Can someone find a 355/348 Yellow Coupe.

Lake Forest Sports Car (LFSC), one of the bigger dealers in the Midwest, has a 1999 355TB for sale

6,000 Miles / $ 119,500 USD

Color exterior: Yellow
Color interior: Black & Yellow
Transmission: Manual
Description: Yellow 355 with sport seats. 1 owner, Ordered new here. This is a low mileage 355 that has the rare sport seats with yellow inserts. It has all of its books and records and was maintained by Lake Forest. It is a six speed, with Scuderia fender shields and black calipers.

see http://www2.thecarexperience.com/pls/carexp/car_exp.car_page?p_car_id=2036 or http://www.lfsc.com/html/detail.cfm?id=196

they also have a 98 355tb with 3900 mi (with Tubi exhaust) for $114,900 -- http://www.lfsc.com/html/detail.cfm?id=164

############

Ferrari of Denver has a 1998 yellow/blue berlinetta with 15K mi for $89.9K

see http://www.ferrariofdenver.com/inventory_detail.cfm?id=57

############

I'd also suggest checking out FORZA magazine, and other Ferarri-specific market lists.

I like the look of the 348 better especially the doors.

But for the extra 100hp and the dependability issue for daily driving I choose the 355.

Hmmm I wonder how much NOS or how much boost you can run thru them!!

A few weeks ago I visited the local Ferrari dealer and was looking at a 94 yellow 348 spider and a 98 yellow 355 spyder. I liked the updated looks of the front and rear of the 355 but the door panels on the 348. I got to speaking with one of the sales people (after he looked outside and saw my NSX) he told me the panels are interchangable. The parts are very expensive but it can be done. You can put the 348 door panels on a 355. I think you can also install the front and rear of the 355 to the 348 sort of like we can do with the 2002 facelifted NSX to the pre 02's.
You may want to consult a dealer just to make sure.

It's usually the other way around... 355 parts on the 348. While they do fit, the car can be easily identified as "rebodied" 348 from the lenght and certain aspects (sail panels IIRC). It's actually pretty common...

However, i've never seen it done in reverse

The Ferrari bottm end is VERY strong, but the top end is where most of the abuse will take it's toll... the valve train doesn't like taking much abuse, especially since it's designed for such high RPM usage.

348's are cool, but on the slower side of the spectrum. Plus, they had issues that were pretty much fixed by the 92+ cars. The 348 also got a bad rap on the flywheel problem (internal diaphrams would rupture, leaking oil and cause the clutch to fail eventually). I've been told this is quite costly to fix if it happens

Good luck on your F-car quest!
