Meaning the military is being misused. Meaning that you don't just roll in the military and expect them to fix every clusterfuck out there. That you prepare better so that the military isn't doing civilian duties and use more diplomacy beforehand. It could also mean that national security depends on cutting off the dependency on foreign oil for example, instead of taking the military out to protect that oil.

Meaning the police, the fire department, homeland security, national guard, etc. Meaning that you need a strong internal security system in case something happens, you are better prepared. After 9/11 we actually cut funding for most of these services in the country.

It's amazing how people interpret things.

Barry seems to be a smart, clever guy. He says what he means. If he was talking about about a federally funded boost to local fire departments, don't you think he would have said so? Or is it that part of Barry's charm is that you can never really tell what he's saying? He says, "civilian national security force" just as powerful, strong and well funded as our military - but somehow we're all supposed to understand he means firemen?

No, this is something else and I can only take BO at his word. He planning to institute a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded.

His use of the words, "just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded" are not ambiguous.

I'm not hinting at all. I do believe Barry is much, much more of a socialist than a capitalist. It's not hard to tell. From his "spread the wealth" policies to his circle of radical friends it's very clear who the man is and what he believes. Look, I don't believe BHO is evil. It might be cool to chill with him and have a few beers. I'd even let him smoke a doobie in the back yard if he wants.

He should just admit the truth instead of trying to present himself as middle-of-the-road. A lot of his supporters are OK with socialism anyway.

I mean, geeze, the whole economic crisis we're facing was kicked off by the sub-prime mortgage meltdown. And who was to blame for this?

Well, it was Jimmuh Carter that started that wonderful CRA program. Oh, anyone else here remember Jimmuh's fireside chats where he wore a sweater and told us to turn down our thermostats? But I digress...

That's not the point. They all suck!

This mess is a direct result of Credit Default Swaps. Wall St was selling Insurance and calling it a swap so they didn't have to maintain the liquidity to cover the defaults.

Did the banks contribute? Yes
Did the Democrats overseeing F & F contribute? Yes
Did the Republicans pushing for deregulation contribute? Yes
Did the morons that thought they could afford a $800k house on $60k salary contribute? Yes
Did Greenspan contribute? Yes

HOWEVER, HAD WE HAD THE SAME EXACT SCENARIO WITHOUT WALL ST WRITING THESE BOGUS SWAPS THE LOSSES WOULD HAVE BEEN BAD, BUT NOT SO COMPLETELY DEVASTATING THAT IT TOOK DOWN THE WHOLE WORLD'S FINANCIAL SYSTEMS.

There is plenty of blame to go around but the truth of the matter is both the Rep and the Dem suck! They let all of us down and now point fingers at each other. Both Barak and John are full of it. BOTH of them are going to raise your taxes. The govt just wrote a check it can't cash.

Just a reminder, Bush did try to reform Fannie and Freddie. He was shot down by the Dems. This is a fact.

So did McCain. This is a fact too.

Can you find any reference, link or source that can show the Democrats were concerned about Fannie and Freddie and tried to do ANYTHING about it?

Also, remember this is not only about Obama and McCain. It's about a Democratic Congress and Senate that would only make the situation worse.
