Hey Mile-Highers and friends-

I have a friend here in So Cal that is considering moving to beautiful Colorado!! It would be in the Boulder/Denver area (Louisville, Broomfield, Highlands Ranch, Aurora, etc).

I was wondering if I could trouble you folks for your input on what it's like to live there -- likes/dislikes, the good and the bad.

He doesn't have an NSX  but has a family. Never lived in snow.

I really appreciate any and all that may have a moment to comment. It is a bit of a loaded question that usually can't be completely summed up in a quick post but the horse's (or should I say Bronco's) mouth always speaks the truth!!!

Thank you Coloradoans!!!

Let's not forget the horrible, horrible snow storms. We get them all the time. The snow will get so bad that all the roads will be closed. When that happens, the general rule is that the last people to come here are the first people to get eaten.

I'd like to add that in the event of little or no snow, the general response is to sacrifice the lastest newcomers to the snow gods. This insures great crop yields in the spring.

Another little know attraction is our weekly accident alerts in winter. This is only a factor when there are so many accidents that the police can not respond in a timely factor. During these times if one has an accident, you simply exchange personal info and agree to address who was actually at fault at a later date. This is a obvious advantage if one is a lawyer or related to a lawyer.

This pretty much the entire metro Denver area: North,South, and East. Anymore specific's about job location???It all depends on what is looking for and how much he can spend. I personally like South Denver around U-Hills. Although I don't live there right now. If the money permits Cherry Hills or Cherry Creek North depending on if he wants a yard or not. Louisville, Broomfield are commute to Denver and that is not always a good option considering T-Rex. T-Rex=Being stopped for a hour on the highway at 2:30 in the morning when they decide to shut down the highway. Highlands Ranch is ok if you are working in the Tech Center but not if you work downtown. Once T-Rex is finished they will have light rail from South Denver to downtown which will hopefully free up some of the traffic. I doubt it .....(I think they said by the time T-Rex is done we will have outgrown it.) There are good places to live all around the metro area you just have to pick your spots... Not to mention the snow storms we have, like the one a couple of years ago where we got about three feet in the metro area. This all just adds to the metro area driving pleasure. We don't really drive that much in the winter just make sure he buys a good pair of ice skates.

I lived in Denver, Aurora and I moved out to Redondo Beach about a year and a half ago, so I am mildy familiar with some of the areas you're talking about. I personaly miss living in CO. You have excellent snowboarding, mounainbiking, rock climbing, skiing, hiking, etc etc right in your back yard. I miss the room to move around, the clean air, the grass/trees, havintg a variety of weather, the ability to be able to get out of close quarters (and above all else) the affordibility of CO in comparison to CA. Lastly, it seems to me that people to me are a little less fake. I run into a lot of people out here that are more interested in what you do/who your contacts are, than really getting to know somone. ie, the'yre looing for a leg up in life. CO seems a lot more laid back. CA had few benefits as well, though. You get 24-7 sunshine, you get to surf, and there is a hell of a lot of eye candy out here. Honesty, comparing the 2 areas is a lot more difficult than asking what's better. It depends highly on what your friend is interested in/involved in/looking for in life right now. I would say (taking the family aspect into play) I would rather raise a family in CO, as everyday costs are cheaper, less violence, and it is a generally a friendlier place to live. Let me know if he has any questions and I'd be more than happy to try and help him out.

Well alrighty then!

Thanks for the input guys! Sounds like a wonderful place! It's absolutely one of my favorites places (recent visit) and one of America's most beautiful areas!! I told my buddy that if he does go there, to get his California plates changed to Colorado ones first before moving and to pretend that he has been there all his life to all that ask.

Maybe you guys could kick someone you don't want there out of the state and give their spot to my friend. He's very cool and would appreciate and respect all that Colorado has to offer him and his family!

Anyhoo, as I said, it was a "loaded" question and I appreciate you all taking time to respond! Have a pleasant winter and enjoy!!!

You can have Bill Owens (and anyone else who voted for Ref C), no trade necessary. Your friend is welcome, regardless of the plates on his car, if he voted against Prop 98 and 111 while in CA (or learned from the mistake of voting "yes" and wouldn't today).

hey So Cal NSXers,

from the Nor Cal owner LitoG .......Colorado is awesome, more sun every day then most states. I used to live there and still have a house in Lone Tree, south Denver by Park Medows Mall.

Terry, if your friend moves around April 06, my 4 bd room house current renter expires his lease in April. And yes works in DTC, denver tech center area....pm me.

Yes I miss it too and snow boarding and skiing is the best there. I missed snow so much, I bought a second home in South Lake Tahoe 2 miles from Heavenly Ski resort, but still not the dry powder snow in CO.

Cheers So Cal NSXers

LitoG
