Hi,

well... i'm in the process of rebuilding my brake system, stage 1 :biggrin::

My intentions were:
- Rebuilt all 4 calipers
- Install SS Lines
- Install Project Mu SCR-Pro rotors on 4 corners
- Install Project Mu LevelMax 900
- Use Project Mu brake fluid

I ended up with:
- Bought 2003 front calipers and brakets fully rebuilt, as new (better than planned )
- Bought SS Lines (as planned)
- Bought RB slotted rotors for all 4 corners, in 97+ sizes, with 97+ brackets for the rear (better than planned )
- Bought Project Mu LevelMax 900i (as planned)
- Bought Project Mu brake fluid and was gifted with ATE brake fluid (which i'll use until i do the stage 2)

OK....now my dilema:

the front calipers i bought are finished in bright red with silver letters, and i still need to paint my rear calipers. So:
- Paint the rears with red to match the front ones?! (not fond about red)
or
- Paint all 4 flat black with silver letters
or
- IF POSSIBLE, apply a clear coat and leave the calipers with the bare metal look

here are the photos of my rear calipers at their current condition (bare metal):

i love this look, but i can't have this way because they start to rust, as you can see in one of them (the one i cleaned more time ago), so the way was to find a high temp clear coat, which i couldn't here in Portugal.
I was convinced to paint them all black, and then when i was posting my thoughts on this thread and then a primer posted what i was looking for (high temp clear coat). Now i have a new doubt: Will this clear coat stick to bare metal or does it need a paint to bond with?

please post your thoughts and opinions and tips... i will be more than thankfull.

Thanks,
Nuno

ahehaehea... ^^^^ you can't be more direct than that :biggrin:

my problem with red is that it's stand out a lot and everybody has red calipers...and my problem is not the F-cars or P-cars...is more like the regular rice boy....

having them red would mean a lot less work... it would be the easier way to get the project done...let's see...

Personally, I went with a color that's similar to brake dust: matte black. It sustains the highest temp of all colors I could find, up to 800 degree celsius. Works since several years now.

I went with gold and black letters as it looked unique to me. Has held up for a couple of years now and still looks great. Also, I used some sort of high temp spray paint from the hardware store, not the expensive kits that I've seen advertised.

I went with red ceramic paint and silver letters. They look good behind the silver Work wheels but the ceramic paint tends to chip if hit when taking wheels off and on (it seems to hold up well otherwise). My car is a 91 and the calipers looked rough when I got it, so this is a big cosmetic improvement IMHO.
