Buying a car in another province

So I'm looking at buying an NSX in Alberta, and driving it back to the Island here in BC. I gather that, since it's at a dealership there, I will have to pay GST on the purchase there, and BC PST when I get it back, pass the government safety, and regisater it here. Correct, or am I missing something?

You are correct. You'd pay GST when you buy and PST when you register the car. The trick is to register the car in Alberta so you have no PST!

I don't know the BC rules (I'm in Ontario) but here you can keep teh car for several months (6-8) before you are "supposed" to convert the plates to Ontario Plates. Your issue will be BC insurance causing you to plate it in BC right away.

BTW - I'm selling a Yellow on Yellow, unmoded 2003, I can arrange delivery. Its under factory warranty and I bought it as an Acura Certified Car so its got one extra year. PM me for details if you like. (I'm also at a finance co and can probably arrange financing for you)

Which part of Alberta are you purchasing from?

Tim

What you getting, let me check it out!
Maybe a 92 with white interior?

I'm actually looking quite hard at This One at ZR Auto in Calgary. Anyone nearby had a lookat this one? Full history, no accidents, T-belt and clutch done recently. Thoughts on this one?

If anyone else knows any good ones for sale, point me in their direction

The one at ZR Auto has been for sale for more than 1 1/2 years. It wasn't as clean as the one I purchased from a private party for the same price in spring 2004 and I didn't have to pay the GST.

As a heads up, I think you should know some background about ZR auto. Zahir (the owner) has made his millions in the market of pawn shops and cash depots (i.e. the ones that charge 59% interest after 15 days). Essentially a VERY shady individual. I spoke to him many times about the NSX to which he was very calous and disrespecful of. He is a Ferrari and Lamborghini lover that has no patience for the NSX crowd. This is likely the reason this particular car hasn't sold from him for the amount of months it's been sitting on his lot. Verbatium from his lips, "I will NEVER have another NSX car on this lot". They have poor resale and don't move.

His arrogance sets him above the rest of the crowd. Now that he owns an Enzo, it's even worse....

I can take photos of the car, and do whatever you desire from a review perspective, but I would personally stay away from this particular individual.

As far as pointing you in the correct direction, please email me at [email protected] and I will put you in contact with the individual that specializes in high end luxury, sport, and exotic cars and you will be overjoyed with what will certainly be your next purchase.

Cheers
Tim

Try another car and another dealer, just my 2 cents.
Zahir promised me that the Lotus Esprit would be ready and waiting for me to drive the saturday morning I drove to Calgary. Where was the car when I got there? In the show room buried. It would have taken 2 hours which he didn't have to get that car out. Pissed off, no. I sat in that car, barely getting in since it was packed in his show room in the back, and right away thought this not the car for me. So I thank him. Then on my way out, I spot the Nsx you are interested in. Sat in it and loved the feel. Came back to Edmonton and started my search. Found mine in B.C. and away I went!
Never to look back or send anyone his way, unless you want to sit in his cars.
When I see him, I just smile and say hi!
He is of course many steps above me.
Signed yours truly,

hey that one looks raelly clean....except i don't like that bold "ACURA" lettering on the steering wheel....

but the km is pretty high...

There was a 91 located in Sherrwood Park (near Edmonton) with 22,000 KM for sale in the AutoTrader. The fellow said it was in show room condition and completely stock except for after market wheels. He was asking $58K for it. I noticed the add is no longer up but I doudt that he sold it .... at least for that price. Maybe he will relist in the near future.

Notice how ZR Auto doesn't even acknowledge that the NSX is an Exotic... They advertise it as a Sports Car.
