It's a perk of the job...
BAR Honda driver Jenson Button has just taken delivery of his brand new company car, Honda’s flagship the NSX.
The late Ayrton Senna was involved in the development cycle of the original NSX and the car has evolved since then. The NSX features all-aluminium body, chassis and suspension and is powered by a 280bhp V6 engine.
23-year-old Button first drove the 3.2-litre, V6 NSX when he took the wheel at Honda’s Tochigi test track oval for a magazine shoot.
"I’m fully committed to my sport and getting the best possible results for B· A· R and Honda this year," said Button. "But I also like to enjoy the finer things in life too, and even by the standard of some of the world’s best cars, they don’t come much more desirable than the NSX.
"I know that the thing’s capable of 170 mph but I promise you, I’ll be sensible on the road…"
Prices of NSX models in Britain range from £60,000 (Coupe man) – £66,000 (Open Top auto). To date only about 400 NSXs have been sold in the UK, with just 23 leaving showrooms last year.
