Our cars are getting old I guess. The hinge on the passenger side broke recently; must be metal fatigue. I will try to have aluminum welding done.IMG_1338.jpg

I think it may have something to do with the aftermarket strut you have.

Same thing happened to me except I replaced it with new. I tried to close the trunk on a cardboard box and the box won. I have Oem struts so I think the metal might be fatiguing after many years of shear force being applied.

It is supposed to be OEM, unless Honda service is cheating me.. But, it's at least 10 years since I've changed them..

Showa corporation is responsible for many bits on your car. That is an Oem gas strut. Are you closing the trunk properly?
grab the trunk underneath the spoiler and slightly apply pressure.

That's exactly what I have been doing for the last 20 years. However, the security guys for underground parking of shopping malls.. that's a different story. Here in Istanbul they check your trunk and slam it down. :frown::mad:

The is an OEM strut. It looked different to me from the first angle.

Sorry for any confusion.
Good to know that
