broken door handle..

The door handle can break in two places... at the door handle, or at the hinge. If your hinge is broken, replacement hinges made from stronger billet aluminum are available. If the handle is broken, you can either buy a new assembly, or Science of Speed will have a new CNC billet aluminum handle.

On my (sold) silver it broke 18 months ago. I had it repaired with an OEM part and from what I heard it broke again... I would go for the aftermarket ones, at least the problem should be fixed forever!

Crap my handle just broke on the drivers side. Looks like both SOS and Dali has a replacement part. Does anyone know how to re revit the metal part to the plastic part?

They are retained by screws. You can peel back the black sticker to reveal the screw. Just as a note... we now black anodize our door repair parts. This is quite a nice feature as when the door is opened, the door hinge is shown. The black gives the appearance of stock.

And it is official:

If you buy the Dali part, you WILL have to grind down the nubs on the part to fit 1991-1996 NSXs. No big deal: 2 mins. on the grinder.

Ooohhh--

that's because OEM is pot metal. You need something a bit stronger than that. Design flaw. Should have read the forums on that one.

But I thought Honda recalled that part, and was no longer issuing the pot metal type. Am I wrong, or did the recall apply only to the window regulator thingie?

While you're replacing the handle latch, strongly consider doing the window fix-it thingie as well for the window regulator (if you haven't already, as I'm sure you know).

Oh I didn't know I had to grind anything off the Dali version, how about the SOS version.

Yes I believe the previous owner had the regulators changed by the dealer years ago to whatever updated regulator. Mine works fine no poping noises from the window.

BTW thanks Chris @ SOS after looking a bit more carefully I noticed they were screws not rivits! THANKS!

The Honda part number for the door handle assy (which the hinge is a part of) is the same part number, so I doubt that the material has changed.

The billet hinges we offer do not require shaving or modification. They are a direct drop-in.

Let me know if you need any help with your installation.
