I am hanging on to my NSX (after having 2 kids) for the obvious reason - it's an awesome car. Not pratical anymore but still awesome. I don't know much about them (or cars in general). I do know that I don't want to spend a lot of money anymore for repairs at the dealership. Soooooooo. The door handle broke on the inside (just the piece you see when you grab it to open it). I know it's expensive to get the whole piece replaced inside the door. Anyone know of someone that does repairs or have an idea of how I can fix it myself??? Thanks! Check out Scienceofspeed.com they have aluminum handles to replace your broken plastic ones. i replaced both of mine and its not hard to do. could take about 2 hours each door if you are good with your hands. if you get around to doing it and have questions you can pm me.

yea I did mine to my drivers it took me about 20-30 minutes per door.
Tools needed, flat head screwdriver, Philips Screwdriver, needle nose plyers, and a beer/cig
very easy, take cover off, take all 8 screws out, unsnap the cable, remember which slip it clicks into, usually the first one, remove handle, unplug door locks, now when you look at the fisrt door handle Pivit arm or axle under it you will see a C clamp/cotter pin, remove it, there is one on the top and one on the bottom, slide axle out, top and bottom, remove handle, remove teh 2 screws on the bottom arm hanger ( the one that it broken, its easy, replace the axle, then replace the cotter pin. then reverse install your done, 20 30 min tops each door.

If you broke the handle, not one of the hinges in the link Larry attached, note that the SOS one-piece handles replace two parts -- the handle plus the lower hinge. SOS makes the handles in a number of versions of aluminum plus they can get them anodized in black. I wanted the interior to look as close to bone stock as possible, and so went with the black. I'm very pleased with them.
While that the handles are expensive, they are not much more than a pair of used handles (from Umbrella Design, for example). Acura only sells the complete panel assembly at a price per side that will cause agita.

At least in a '96, there are three parts involved - the upper hinge, the lower hinge and the handle. Each hinge is held onto the handle by two small (2.5 x 6 mm) screws for a total of 4 screws. The SOS handle is a single piece that replaces the upper hinge plus the handle (my mis-statement: I previously said lower hinge). You have to re-use the lower hinge & the plate with the threaded inserts (see last picture in this post). The screw-heads are hidden under small circles of black tape.

The lower hinge, which attaches to the return spring, is the one that breaks in some cars. So, depending on your misfortunes, you might need to replace the lower hinge(s) as well as the handle(s).

You only need to remove the two screws for the lower hinge plus the two C-clips (one on each hinge pin) to remove the old handle. Those small screws appear to have had Loc-tite type compound on them (the red stuff in the above picture), so they can be tough to remove & easy to strip the head.

I had to replace my driver's side handle, the same thing happened on my 2000. It cost me $360.00 from the dealer for the handle assembly, and it took me 5 minutes to replace.

yeah the sos kit is like 12 bucks or something i forget but 900% cheaper than the dealer

Totally ignore the first 3 pictures in the following (you are not going to remove the entire door panel), and follow the pictures 4 through 9 that cover the handle removal only. http://nsxe-repair.com/DS-removal.html
I used a nylon trim removal tool to help lift the triangular panel. But, once you have it lifted enough to get your fingers under it, its best to use fingers only to prevent scratching. You need to flex it away from the door panel a bit to get the internal hooks to release. Once you have it apart, its easy to see how that panel fits into place, making it much easier to do the other side.
For the blue end on the door latch cable, note what notch it was in before removal, and re-install in the same notch. I'm not 100% sure it makes a difference, but why chance having a problem and another thing to re-adjust.

Yes like i said in the above posts, make sure you remember which groove it fits in cuz if you put it into any of the other grooves the door will be hard to open.
its the first groove on the cable,
to make sure you did it right, put the cable on the first groove, then put the handle back on but only use one screw to mount the handle get inside car, open door see if it works, if it does remember to plug in the switches
and you shoudl be done.

Gold and black screw location
Any one have a picture of where the gold and black screws are supposed to go and what order. The guy that owned the car before looks like mixed them all up on a previous repair.

Gold ones (4) go towards the front under the handle. Black ones (4) go towards the back under rear of the leather piece.
The gold ones are "Shoulder Screws", made for the front plastic half of the assy.
