Does anyone know how to remove pistons from after market brakes?
How do you get them out of the calipers? it seams like they are pressed in.
the reason for removing them is so I can powder coat the calipers.

they literally SHOOT OUT... so watch your feet, eyes, hands, etc.

good to use a piece of wood to stop the piston.

Take a small slice of wood,(paint stirer, thin strip of plywood 3" x 6", etc..) this acts as a cushion for the pistons so they don't get damaged when they pop out, and they will, and lay it flat on the arched part off the caliper with that being on the ground, (on bench, in tank etc, etc..), and the piston assy. being up. Cover the whole assy. with a rag as fluid WILL blow all over and carefully use an air gun to slowly build pressure, blow air into the open bleeder nozzle, or just remove it, it's easier.
KEEP YOUR FINGERS AND OTHER EXTREMITIES OUT OF THE WAY. THIS METHOD WILL RESULT IN YOUR FRIENDS CALLING YOU STUMPY IF YOU LET YOUR ITEMS GET BETWEEN THE PISTON AND THE WOODEN CUSHION WHEN THEY POP OUT!!!!

Cheers

They don't need to be removed for powder coating. Powder coating exposes the calipers to less than half the temperature they are designed to withstand while braking.

And even then rubber boots still melt. It is best to remove the boots and buy the caliper rebuild kit. I hear that it is pretty pricey for the NSX.
