I understand from the parts that the fronts have only one side shim - for the outside pad only. The rears have one for each, inside and outside.

Can the outside shim be also used on the inside front pad as well?

Mine is a 98-T but I don't think that should matter.

It was my understanding that the fronts have two outside shims and one inside. I think that's what my '92 Service Manual shows...not 100% sure though. Maybe they changed things in '97?

Hi Guys.

OK, first thing for clarity is that "inner" is piston side.

1991-1996 front = 2 inner/1 outer shim
1997+ front = 1 outer shim

1991-2004 rear = 1 inner/1 outer shim

Sorry Hrant, but I cannot answer your original question. I would just give it a try. May I ask why??

Thanks,

Larry, as usual you are on the mark.

Yes the inside was a reference to the pistons.

As to the why, I was just curious as to why the 97+ do not have it while the pre 97 do! Niello is replacing the rotors, pads, fluids, etc., today so I am going to my check list ....
