Brake Pad Recommendations?

There seems to be a plethora of brake pads available for the NSX w/i the last few years and, to be frank, I'm a little behind the times. My Cobalt spec whatevers are getting a little thin on the rear axle and I'm looking for something better on the track. The present pads took a bit to get up to temp but still had great bite so I don't mind that criteria but if there's something better than I'm all for it. I'm tempted to order the Carbotech XP10 but don't know if I'm evaluating every option.

Setup is: front Stoptech ST40 calipers and rear stock calipers.

What's everyone using now?

I like my current setup: PFC-01(thanks to Billy and Ryneen) bbk and rear xp-8 on oem calipers. This setup is same for street and track.

Just an observation I'll share... Since going BBK on all 4 corners my pads have been lasting forever and don't get as hot as the oem setup I use to track with. I'm also on street pad equivalents in terms of compound. I just switched to new porterfield R4-S pads recently...You can likely go one step less aggressive in pad compound and gain some better streetabilty without sacrificing track performance.

I would even consider going with xp8 or even the 1521 and save my rotors in the process. Just my 0.02

What do you like about the setup, doc? Good modulation, feel, easy on the rotors, durability, etc.

Yeah, that's a really good point. My fronts barely have any wear and the rears are quite worn. However, I keep the rears stock to keep the weights and polar moment of inertia down which keeps hp up. At least that's what I tell myself to save $2500 bones.

I run PFC01s front (BBK) and xp-8 oem rear too. I have tried XP10s and Cobalt's whatever they are calling it this month. I have also tried the XPs rear and Hawk DTC60s front. The Hawk is a great pad and probably very close to the PFC01.

Here is what I like about the PFC01. On track - great modulation, never have any fade issues, last two, maybe three full track weekends plus street driving in between. Easy on rotors. Same can be said for the Hawk DTC60 but they seem to wear quicker. Off track/street - no squeal, brake dust is heavy but manageable on the street. Stopping power when cold is OK too.

OEM rears - I think the XP10 is a better match to a BBK on the front with the PFC01. But they occasionally squeal on the street. IMO the XP8 is 90% as good but with no squeal on the street and a little less dusting.

IMO PFC01 front and XP8 rear is a great combo for the track and you can actually keep them on for the street if you want to in between events.

what he said^...........For me its as simple as what setup works on the street, but also allows me to do my thing at the track without any issues.
