It depends on what you're looking for.

For decent performance for street use, with low levels of noise and dusting, the stock pads are fine.

For enhanced performance for combined street and track use, with low levels of noise but high dusting, I like the Hawk HP+.

For an even higher level of performance for track use, with high levels of noise and high dusting, there are numerous track-only pads on the market.

I absolutely do NOT recommend generic brake pads, IOW the kind they sell in any auto parts store, as they are likely to be significantly lower in performance than the stock brake pads.

what for? what are you trying to improve upon? As Ken said if the car is street only, oem is nice because they are not as dusty as most "performance" after market pads.If you find your oem pads are not performing up to expectation it might be other things like suboptimal bedding/glazing/worn pads.

I recently installed EBC red stuff in my TL and in my Maxima...very smooth, no break in period, very quiet, and no dust that I can see yet...although its only maybe been 2000 km's....(1300 miles)

Bought from a retailer of brake parts via ebay, rear was about $65 and fronts about $85 shipped....stopping power is noticiably different(improved over OEM)

They also make a "yellow stuff" pad which I believe is for more enthusiastic driving.....

I am no expert, just a guy that needed to replace brakes...but figured it was a low cost upgrade for my cars....

Not sure what I would use onthe NSX if I needed to change them...maybe the same things, or maybe the yellow stuff...
