Brake ducts and BBK... keep? or toss?

Basic question:

I have a set of brake ducts, I forget whose they are. I think downforce, I bought them off the marketplace.

I also now have a stoptech BBK. I will track the car next year, do the ducts help a BBK? Or should I sell them now?

Install them. The purpose of a BBK is a larger heat sink to prevent fade AND also help keep rotor temps lower (think heat stress cracking). So ANY reduction in temps because of ducts will help with both delaying the onset of fade and longevity of the rotors. How much? Ehh, who knows, but even a 50 deg reduction helps some.

Lets put it this way, when I was running OEM size rotors I was going though a set every 3 months or so from tracking because of heat stress cracking. After BBK and ducting (both deflectors ~ which is really what you are talking about and my ducts and hose to the center of the rotors) a set of Brembo GT rotors (actually Racing Brake 13" replacement rings) now last me an entire season and still drivable post-season on the street.

should I take off the sheild? I also took a look and noticed my lips vents can be functional. I can essential put a hose around each vent in the cantrell lip and run to the brakes no problem!

Can you keep the shields with a bbk:confused: I don't think so.I still have mine on the rear to protect the heat sensative suspension joints. The reason more cooling for us hpde guys is good is because many like myself use a compromise street/track pad, which has maximal bite and torque at lower temps than a dedicated track only pad, thus the lower you can get your temps the better.I have ducts that are ziptied right up to the big brake deflecter thus providing more direct air flow. With the ducts open my hot rotor temps are 80-100 deg cooler than with them blocked off.
