Been thinking long and hard about what color I should paint my calipers on the NSX. It was between black red and bronze. I went with the red. What do you think?

To Red, or not to Red... that is the question

hmmm... Let's see:

- Formula Red NSX...
- Canopy painted Red.
- Aftermarket Side Skirts & Comptech Front Lip painted Red. (awaiting install!)
- Rear Valance painted Red.
- Racing Sports Seats in Red.

My friend, you've made the correct decision (no matter how flattering yellow or even fuscia calipers may look; despite many thinking the other way! )

(btw... some larger, cross-drilled rotors would look tyte (apologies- I just noticed you do have them!) I wonder what the maximal rotor size 91-96 can handle... a set of '97+ brakes from a donor/Erz car can handle larger rotors than OEM due to larger caliper and bracket  wheel clearance is for caliper only, I believe?)

Nice Job! Did you mask off the pad area or just free hand it. I am assuming you didn't remove the calipers.

I have spent the last four hours preparing mine for painting (red again).
I already had paint on mine which was starting to peel, so I am having a lot of fun with wire brushes and paint remover

I just cleaned the area with varsol and when it dried, I hand painted it with Testers model paint. I painted and let it dry then painted again. Very light coats but many. 7 coats and 36hrs later, voila.

Umar,

My sparcos are actually black. I was going to go with the red but had a last minute change of heart.

IMO, those are the right colors to go with on the seats and the calipers. Now clean those wheels and take a few more pictures of that nice NSX!

I think they look like factory calipers, which have been painted red.

I agree with AutoVation.....to post pictures of dirty NSX wheels is sacrilege. Even if you didn't have time to wash the car, at least Windex the wheels before taking the picture.

I am sorry to inform you, that chosing that paint will not make you happy in a few months. That paint will "soften" when hot (hard braking) and allow brake dust and/or road dirt to actually "melt" into the paint making it eventually turn dark grey. You should have used a "high-temp" paint.

If you do NOT track your car, and baby the brakes, you will be fine, but I did notice upgraded seats, and rotors, so I would think that you may brake harder than normal.

I thought he was referring to just the NSX letters on the calipers.
I am using the two part G2 paint and hv some black hi-temp for the letters.
If I could get off this computer, I could finish it in by evening

I drive the NSX hard but not too hard that I have to hard brake. I went with the Testers paint because some other NSXers used it and Ive been keeping an eye on it for quite some time, no problems yet!

Andy, amonia on aluminum!!!! Come on, your kidding right. I know the wheels are dirty but I had just put the car in the garage and it had been raining for the past few days. Trust me, they are clean and freshly polished now!
