how good does the factory bose stereo sound.is there a lot of base.and how reliable is it.i have noticed that while looking for a used nsx i often see in the ads that they have rebuild the amps or replaced the stereo heads.

No high's, no low's, must be Bose! I've had a few cars with Bose stereo's, and for me the NSX stereo sounds pretty good. However, I find myself turning down the volume because the sound of the engine and Taitec exhaust are the real music to my ears.

The interior of the car is small. Therefore, it is actually quite good when comparing to most other stock car stereo. The amp issue is there, but for high mileage cars. The fix is not bad, a prime member will fix them for less than 80 bucks per speaker.

It is a cassette unit, but hook up to an ipod will resolve all problems.

thanks for the info and the very quick reply.one more thing i have heard of people installing a sub in the passenger floor board.does the floor have to be cut and what happens when you have a passenger is there danger of his feet damaging the sub

Footwell sub, couple ways to get it. One, buy one from Ztoolman who offers a few types or build you own. Don't worry about damaging the sub with the passengers feet. That's why they make grills :)

No cutting of the floorboard. You do gotta remove some stock sub mounts though. Take a few minutes.

As for bose, those of us who like to listen to our music LOUD would pronouce bose, as "blows".

for a factory stereo on a 91 vehicle - the stereo is awesome. i think it sounds fine and my civic has a helluva lot better stereo in it (not factory.... but comparing them.... the nsx has a better factory stereo than my civic's)

You should really do a bit more reading here but it sounds to me like you are unaware that the stock nsx Bose stereo system comes stock with a sub in the passenger side footwell. There is also a speaker located in the center toward the back of the car between the two seats. This speaker is not part of the stereo system but is there to interface with the use of the stock phone which was optional back in the day.

Hmmm, my center speaker worked as part of the regular stereo.

The center speaker is driven off of the amp in the foot well speaker assy and it was also used for the optional OEM cell phone.

I knew it was driven off the footwell speaker but thought it only functioned with the cell phone. I cannot say because at this present time I need to send all my speakers to you for inspection.
