Borla exhaust

Funny you should ask that question today. I was there this morning putting in an order for 10 exhausts. The testing(NSX's don't get driven many miles versus how much they sit) took much longer than anticipated. Borla went thru a reorganization(Alex Borla took back over the helm) and my project got close to never happening. Fortunately I was able to make it work and a few changes have been made that differ from the intial design. For one, the muffler will appear to be a single can(inside it will still be true dual with a seperation between banks). The tips will extend outward an inch more and will not have BORLA embossed on them. SOS will be the sole distributor and it will fall within current pricing of existing exhausts. It still has the million mile/lifetime warranty even when using forced induction. I expect units to be available in a few weeks. The can and tips will be polished. Quad tips is the only option and I am working on a single two into one oval tip(this may or may not happen, depending on difficulty). Dyno results are very impressive and will be posted shortly. I am amazed at the rear wheel figures of just the exhaust alone with no headers on a bone stock NSX with 90k on the ODO. Results were; +12.2RWHP and +3.2FPT !!!All the hard work is FINALLY a reality. More to follow!
Thanks for the interest,
John

Mmmmm.....
I'll take two.

Seriously though, very interested, but just one unit. Should go nicely with my soon to come BBSC and headers.

Anytime-
Care to comment on the sound of the unit?

I beta tested this exhaust. It sounds great! The exhaust has a very unique tone that is very different than any other NSX exhaust I have ever heard. It is deep, but at the same time, sounds very mechanical. The note actually reminded me of an aftermarket Porsche 911 exhaust (like a Borla unit). It felt great on my car, and the twin tip design looks very nice. The version I had was a beta, and the only real problem I had with it was how the two canisters were joined by a support bar. This has been redesigned, and it now is manufactured as one unit structurally. The Borla embossed logo is now being deleted from the tips (a plus IMO). The weight was less than stock, but not unusually light (I would estimate it at about 35#, however, the final version may be different). The best selling point of this exhaust is that it is warranted against defect even for forced induction applications. This makes it a great addition to exhausts available for the NSX.

Regards,

Regardless of weight, IMO 12 RWHP is impressive. No other exhaust I know delivers that. Most exhaust are just for noise preference.

I've had Borlas welded in with a custom bend setup for about 2-3 years now. I have always loved the borla sound.

Anytime's system seems pretty similar to a Corvette exhaust. looks nice.

Chris, do you know if the Borla system can be obtained with a single tip on both sides?

I am very interested in this system as they do have a unique sound.

-TIA

The comment about the unique Corvette / Borla sound is correct. I worked with Anytime and Borla on the preliminary design and the first "Alpha" prototypes. This exhaust is a radical departure from the rest of the street legal NSX aftermarket offerings.

It takes two separate Borla C5 corvette-type cans. The cans are reversed from how they would be in a C5, so we get the same "form factor" as a standard NSX exhaust, but they are actually two totally separate cans, so it's a true dual exhaust....very cool!

If I remember correctly Mark and Jane had mentioned there was an additional 200.00 to pull and reset aftermarket headers when installing BBSC.You may want to install the headers at the time of BBSC or after.

That makes sense, since the styling of the vents on the sides of the C5 is a reverse version of those on the NSX.

Pictures of the can / tips?

Is the can large like the Comptech or small like the RM (B&B)?

Hey Andy-

This was the first "Alpha" prototype unit. The final version is of course much better looking, but this pic gives you a general idea-
