Hello NSXPrime,

I am going to be making a trip to FL to purchase a NSX very soon. In case I decide to go with a body shop for inspection of the car, does anyone have any recommendations for body shops in the Fort Lauderdale area? I would prefer a shop with a paint meter that specializes in NSX's.

Thank you.

Not sure you'll find a shop "that specializes in NSX's" near FLL. That said, I'm sure we can help you out. Are you at liberty to provide details on the car you are looking at purchasing? Maybe one of us can take a look on your behalf. Probably won't have a paint meter but we can at least give it an eyeball or two.

Thank you for the reply, dquarasr2, but I do not believe there is enough time. I am leaving on my flight tomorrow and I already plan on having the car inspected by Dwight at ForeignTech. Another member on the board strongly urged me to have the paint closely inspected in case the PPI does not catch any previous body work. I have a lot of faith in the seller because he is an honest guy and Oscar_driver has already seen the car and gave me his opinion. Because I am not purchasing the car from the original owner, I suppose I can not be too careful when it comes to any possibly paint work. Can not put a price on peace of mind.

edit: I will be purchasing the car from georednsx. He's been awesome to talk to and a great guy to work with... considering how meticulous and nervous I am about buying a car cross country. (Made a few expensive mistakes in the past so paint work is always a big deal with me.)

I just saw George on Sunday and he mentioned he was probably selling his NSX. Oh, heck, I should have put 2 and 2 together and realized you were talking about his NSX.

I was just at Dwight's yesterday, too. Small world.

While I cannot be 100% sure that the car has never had paint work, I have spoken to George a number of times at miscellaneous SoFla events, meets, and car shows. He's a car guy and pretty meticulous. I think you can rest easy. I've seen the car. It's quite, quite nice. Not telling you to not be diligent and I can offer no guarantees (not that you'd take any from me), but just a data point that the car appears to be very clean. Last time we were at a meet and our cars were parked next to each other my car looked a couple shades darker red than his, only because the paint on his car shined that much brighter. I'm actually jealous of his car.

I think you'll be OK with this car. Hope Oscar has provided you similar feedback. Best of luck. Holla if you have time to socialize while you are in town.
