aside from Comptech, RM, and Wings West, who else makes complete body kits for our cars? I've seen a couple I liked but I think they're only available in Japan. Does anyone export/import these to the US?

Thanks for the help

Comptech makes the only NSX body kit readily available in the US. The others are just skirt/wing bolt-on bits; hardly true body kits.

There are people importing the JDM kits, but their reliability varies wildly and people regularly kiss their deposits goodbye. Also, the quality of the JDM kits is all over the place. Some are nice, but many are really poorly built. And, the kits syled for that market tend to be really cartoony or 'boy-racer' looking.

IMHO, the Comptech kit is the only way to go. I have it on my car and when it is in Bob Norwood's shop, people regularly walk right past the F-40s and F-50s and say "wow! what the hell is this?" I really amuses Norwood, as he is a die-hard Ferrari tuner.

By the way, if you ever need really custom turbo or fuel system work, he is the man. He took a couple of his cars and a couple of customer cars to the salt flats a few weeks ago and set FIVE new land speed records. Already had several. One of them eclipsed the old record by over 50 mph!!!!! He is famous in the Ferrari world for building crazy fast (600 hp+) 328s and (1200+ hp) Testarossas. The guys who founded ID (Doom/Quake) keep him really busy building toys like twin-turbo methanol fueled F50s. Just built a 650 hp 1.4 L MR2. Also, he is a nice guy.

Erebuni has the imitation of Gruppe M body kit. I believe they even have the fender flares now.

Body kits from Japan is way too much money. And the cost of freight is killer too.
There are few people who can import them into U.S.

With that much money I would rather look into the supercharger.

There is another one made by Mike H. in fiber glass. I'm pretty sure some of you came across this kit before. I will try to post the url later on.

I don't have a picture of it to post right now, but it is frequently used in the NOPI 'Drag Wars' ads in import mags. If you are in Texas, you are welcome to stop by Norwood's shop and look at it. It sits in the shop next to an F50 and gets more attention than the Ferrari.

The kit was designed by someone at the Honda SoCal design facility as an evolution of the original body, but Honda Japan rejected it and they passed the design on to Comptech.

maomaonsx, if by a 'bunch' of NSXs, you mean the one he built about eight years ago, it is the same guy. They did a very high boost, alcohol-injected car that was very fast. Unfortunately, the NSX motor is pretty weak and the block fatigued after 15K miles or so. Back in those days, Honda drag racing was in its infancy and people didn't really know anything about decking the short-blocks. My block should be good for 700+ hp, so I should be pretty safe at 16 psi.

Bob spends most of his time making high hp (1200+) Ferraris and building cars that set land speed records. I think he has a half dozen land speed records in various classes and some of his customers have a few. He also designs/engineers turbo kits for aftermarket parts companies. He just finished designing a Prowler kit for someone to mass produce.

Speaking of Turbos. My friend who works for Nissan and writes for Sport Compact Car (among others) wants to do a Turbo kit for the NSX.

His research has resulted in tons of new products for various cars. He consults Adam S on his NSX and most of the 9 and 8 second Hondas.

Anyhow, he made a kit for the Sentra SE-R/200SX (my other car). 140hp stock - 282 hp at the wheels on pump gas with all stock internals (water injection is used). You can now make any SE-R a low 12 second car with that $4,500 turbo kit. His Z is close to 500hp at the wheels and he has a 175hp at the wheels 200hp, smog legal, all motor 200SX.

He said 12k and a few months and he can make a 400hp, low boost, kit for the NSX.

Any takers?
