I'm newer to this board but have seen this on all other boards as well. Why do people go through the trouble to blur or scrub out their liscence plate in a picture? Almost half of the posters have their city or state in their signature. Who cares about a plate number?
Every time you drive the car, thousands of people can see the plate and take a picture or write it down. Am I missing something? Am I doing something that I should not be doing when I send or post pictures? Just wondering?

True, but the other drivers on the road know nothing about you beyond the car you are driving. You disclose a lot more information about yourself online, some of it personal, and a plate number may make it easier for a determined thief/stalker to track you down.

Chances are, nothing will happen from posting your plate online, but I guess sometimes it doesn't hurt to be a little paranoid. ;)

FWIW, masking the plate number doesn't bother me -- it's usually the most ugly part of the car anyway.

PhoeN$X is completely right... it's probably paranoid, but it could protect your identity if someone is a frequent stalker on this site.

personally i think blurring the plates is better because text always draws attention from the eye. Although plates like MYNSX, NSXTASY and NEONSX are an exception. ;)

Let's say that someone in your local chapter organized a driving "cruise" through the canyons (that you may or may not have attended), and something really, really terrible happened, like one (or even more) of the event attendees got into some serious trouble with the law, or worse (god forbid), met his/their maker up there in the canyons......

.....then the local authorities decided to investigate, and started coming to our forums to look for evidence, witnesses and such.........and lo and behold!! They see pics of these nice, exotic cars with License plate # spelled out loud.....

....next thing you know, someone's at your door who claims he's from the Local Sheriff Dept., and wants to speak to you.......

get my drift?
