Can anyone tell me more about Blue Mountain in Ontario? Good, bad, and recommendations. Any must do activity and good food places? I am planning a trip there for Christmas.

Try Horseshoe Valley. Its a nice resort, there are also 2 other resorts in that general area.... http://www.horseshoeresort.com/home.asp , http://www.skisnowvalley.com , http://www.bluemountain.ca . The reason I suggest horshoe valley is because I live 20 minutes from there and my gf's parents live up the street and they have said its the best out of the bunch. Check out the sites and lemme know. You can PM me if you would like and if you have any issues when you come here, feel free to give me a shout 416-220-4201 or 705-718-8072.

Warm Regards,

Omar

I am already booked for Club Intrawest. Hope it is a nice place. But thanks for the suggestion. I'll check it out for the next time.

You will most likely have to come into Barrie to try some good food. Wimpys is probably the best place for burgers, and you have to see the molson plant where they had the BIGGEST pot bust in Canadian History (thats what put us on the map (Unfortunatly:wink: ) ) But like I said give me a shout, I would be happy to show you around....

Went to Tremblant Club Intrawest last year and had a great time. Let me know how you like Blue Mountain. We are headed to Whistler again this year. Just love that place, great skiing, great food, great skiing, great food, Tim

Whistler is very much different and nicer than Blue Moutain. If I was paying the same I would go to whistler. If its because of location Blue Mountain is not bad

Intrawest has done a nice job of building a resort up there. I'm sure you'll have fun even if it's not the rockies.

Blue is the best mountain in the area IMO. We used to have a place up there and spend winters skiing BK (Before Kids) Intrawest has doen a nice job, there are good restaraunts both there and drivable distances and its a nice place to sit back and have a Ceasar (order one, they don't make 'em in the USA) and relax.

Its not Whistler, or Tremblant, its a wide, short, mountain and the trick is to ski right to left, (or left to right) to maximise runs and keep out of lines.

You'll like it!

I was watching the local news and they said that Blue Mountain doesn't have much snow, but they are the only ones that are fully opened.
I noticed that there isn't much snow yet. I don't think it is that cold either for this time of the year. One more week before Christmas. Hopefully things will get better by then.

We did.
No sking for the first 3 days. We ended up taking a Hummer offroad ride one day and had a blast. We spent another day at an indoor/outdoor water park. The kids had fun.
Out of the seven days we were there, we had two to three days of sking. Not too bad considering the climate change we are having. The village had free movies also everyday for the kids and families.

we are going to whistler too! feb 15th. we normally only do one big ski trip per year but we are doing a second one this year because of the crappy conditions from our trip to Utah. our favorite so far is Big Mountain in Montana.

i believe blue mountain is currently closed.

Blue just opened up but only a few runs and a few lifts... better to wait a few weeks if you are planning to go up. Wait until the place it at least 50% open.

Headed to Whistler at the end of the month. Will be staying at Club Intrawest. Anyone else gonna be up there around then?

Nick, PM me if you have any questions about Whistler. Been there almost every year for the past 10.

Tim
