I get a lot of basic tech questions about the relative merits of turbos versus superchargers of various types, so I thought I'd point out that the January issue of "Hot Compact & Imports" (never heard of it until today) has a pretty good article on the basic mechanics of turbos, Roots type superchargers, centrifical superchargers (Vortec) and twin-screw type (Whipple) superchargers.
