Black Widow Keyless Entry

Santa brought me a Black Widow keyless entry. Anybody have any experience with this unit? Is it compatible with the factory alarm ('94)? Should I just return it and get the Acura part?

From what I read and currently have (OEM unit), I doubt any aftermarket alarm "works" with the OEM unit. Usuually the aftermarket alarm has more functions than the OEM. The OEM only unlocks/locks with no chirp sounds or illuminating lights. The OEM doesn't even open the trunk. So if you want those extra features, you should keep the Black Widow- (if it has those options). But I have read of someone in the DIY section on how to integrate your lights or horn with the OEM unit....

The OEM alarm is more reliable than a aftermarket one IMO.

Reliability is likely going to be a function of the quality of the installation. Shop around and make sure you are comfortable with the installer - DIY and be sure!

If you are looking for the best quality, purchase the Viper keyless entry or any DEI product. The remotes are far more durable, range is better, and circuit relikabilty is the best.
