Got this from a friend at work, ..

Killed in Patterson, LA.
Supposedly 14’ long, 2200 lbs.
Estimated 55-60 years old.

Kind of sad they killed it, that would have been cool in a zoo. That is one big as gator though. I wonder how many elephants he ate

Tried a search for it, but no news ..
Probably one of those 'problem crocs' ...
BTW, I don't think there's elephants in Louisiana, ... most likely it's had quite a number of deers and such .....

Well I bet you didn't think there were any 14' 2200lb crocs in louisiana either did ya?

They sure have some power!! My friend drove back from an offshore job in Louisiana on his Jetta, hit either a croc or a gator on the road, and had to replace the whole front bumper.

Hehe .. yeah .. i sure hope there aren't THAT many 1400 lb gators around ..

Cheers ... Gus

We're gonna need a bigger boat...

Here's some pics of a shortfin Mako shark caught off Nova Scotia a year or so ago...
(they are almost never, ever this BIG  )

Not only is it amongst the fastest fish in the sea, but also amongst the smartest...

Back to the topic, my mom's uncle use to be a poacher. His trophy mantle had Tigers, Asian Lions, Buzzards, Antelopes, water buffaloes, Bears, Jaguars (or Leopards?), and many 16,18, and even 20+ feet long salt-water croc's. I think I may still have a legal brief & small suitcase from one, from well over 30yrs ago.

if it's dead then why is the tail sticking up like that?

I can't abide people who hunt animals just to kill them. If this alligator was problematic they could have tried to relocate it to a preserve or zoo. Too bad that it made it to be that old and then it was treated like that.

Agreed! ...
Here's a couple of pics from Lake Conroe, a little north of Houston, taken from a chopper from a local TV station (about 6 mo-s ago). This time, the gator was left on its own devices though .. only got its pictures taken!

Quite awesome to compare the size of the deer to the gator!

I agree with you 100%. It wasn't a "problem" for 55-60 years how did it all of a sudden become a problem? More than likely because people screwed with it or started to build a new house where the animal lived or something like that.
