I was around cost mesa acura dealer and my friend told me there is grand opening shabu shabu resturant on baker st. and bristol st. After I tried with my wife, I cant' tell you how good the beef and chicken taste. After I did some research of this resturant and found out this is the second location. The resturant has food size for large group and it has very contemporary design and big waiting area with LCD TV. Just want to share this if someone like to eat shabu shabu or someon might want to try shabu shabu :) when you around costa mesa.

My good friend Hac s/n octechgeek introduce me to California Shabu Shabu over a year ago and just about everytime I am in town, I go to the location on Brookhurst in Fountain Valley. It doesn't hurt that the hotel I stay at is on Brookhurst and Slater. In fact Hac has introduced me to a number of great restaurants in Orange County.

Mike...and we still not done yet, OC has many great restaurants too offer. I always try to mix a good combo for you each time you visit, good for and enough eye candy for satisfy.

then you aren't boiling it right! haha

Don't get me wrong, I love Pho and boiled and stewed meats have their places. But I've been to good shabu places before and you can order things like Wagyu and Kobe. Boiling meat does so many undesirable things to it that I can't stand to see Kobe and Wagyu be destroyed this way. I'd much rather have it grilled or prepared in such a way that you can really enjoy the flavor of the meat. Kobe and Wagyu just need a light sear or sometimes even eaten sashimi or carpaccio style. No ketchup, no sauces, maybe some salt and pepper or olive/sesame oil...

You guys might want to try a place out in Downtown LA called Kagaya for Shabu...
