Esprit Turbo NSX, look at the rate of acceleration:

If you look around, the whole movie is available for download on the net.

It's packed with NSX stuff.

Had not seen this one before. Thanks.

Do you know what mods the other red NA NSX had earlier in that video?

It appeared to be an early model LHD "Acura" NA1 with a 3 liter C30A that produced 360BHP. That's the most NA HP I've seen from a street tuned 3 liter machine, and it's straight line acceleration was slightly faster than Tsuchiya's Type-R.

The full version is available here for viewing, however I do recommend buying this DVD, you can special order it at most Japanese book stores.

The 3.5L with ITB with 400ps picked up 15kmh.

The NA tuned 3.0 with so claimed 360ps was slow as hell, probably making nowhere near 360ps. Look more like 290ps.

The light tuned NSX-R seems to perform smoothest while picking up 4.2kmh compare to regular NA2 R.

The 3 liter NA NSX was one second slower around the track than Tsuchiya's NSX-R but it was faster on the uphill. The NA2 type R has clocked 12.5 seconds in the quarter mile, and if a 3 liter machine can out accelerate it I wouldn't consider it "slow as hell", unless your comparing it with the Esprit NSX. The turbo had fantastic power but it's response seemed unrefined and it's handling was rough as well. If an NSX has 520 HP than I would hope it could at least break one minute on that track, like the much heavier Mine's R-34.

Just my opinion, thanks for the post.

Tai,
My comment on the red revolution NSX was regarding the claimed 360ps. It barely pick up little speed (~2kmh) on the straight. Something doesn't seem right. Over claimed # or car is not running perfectly? The Route KS NSX on the other hand seems like power is under claimed in comparision.

The other Revolution 3.5L/ITB NSX with just 40ps more picked up whopping 15km in the straight, that was a really impressive, the car is awesome.

Picking up 31.6kmh on the straight is absolutely no joke. Power is power, on the straight it shows. The red Revolution NSX just didn't shown the kmh to back up the power claim by the tuner.

Got to be realistic, sometimes less is more. Watch the video again, did Tsuichiya even tried? look at it. How much time wasted on the start, sliding around and in aww:eek:? 1sec, 2sec, 3sec? Did it really had much time going WOT? Not to mention the car is running 265/35r/18 tires in the rear just like every other NSX in the test.

Run another fuel map, lower the boost, tailor the power level for this track. A little bit more seat time. Under 1 minute why not?

While the NA2 R has been clocked 12.5sec, could be a fluke, could the having best driver, who own the car and know the car inside and out, condition, extra strong motor. Other than the 12.5 sec video I posted in the past, I am not aware of any other test that it went "under" 12.7sec.

The comment on the RED NA1 was that the powerband is very narrow. 6000-7000rpm, and the rev-limit was 7500rpm. The big throttle body seems to hurt the lower end quite a bit. 360hp is probably an overstatement but also remember the narrow power band does not help. Plus, it being 3.0L, it has significantly lower torque than 3.2 or 3.5L. The red NA1 was also running street tire where as RouteKs and Esprit were running race compounds. I think tsuchiya's nsx was running street tire as well. So, all in all, the red one didn't do too badly.

As for the Esprit NSX, the drivers felt the power was way too much but I think it has run under a min at Tsukuba so it's not slow. It has to be set up properly i guess.

Lastly, Tsuchiya's comment was that he liked the 3.5L most out of the 3 tuned engines but he would only modify the engine and leave other things OEM.

Didn't noticed that, thanks for pointing it out.. Don't see why they didn't test all the cars with same tires:confused: .

I like Daisuke's comments.
"If you are looking for speed", "Esprit".
"Too much, if it wasn't for S-tires, where would had it gone?.
"Hittshi"

Tsuichiya picked the Revolution 3.5l+ itb for the 400ps, easy to use. Leaving everything normal as he doen't need any unnecessary items. Besides the motor on the Rovolution 3.5L+ITB , rest of the car was over done in his opinion.

regarding the red NA1, it's also a left hand drive Acura... So, it's a big possibility that it's once an USDM nsx, like what most of us have over here. We all know what the stock USDM 5 speed does at short track!!! Thus making the power band a bit narrow...

BTW, I had one Dvd for sale (this VTEC club Vol.4) and I had posted this on for sale forum, but it hasn't shown up yet. Anyone could PM me if you are interested.

Great find .......great vid! I would love to know the exact setup of that esprit NSX.
