Okay...I have been using my IPOD via cassette deck. (By the way, I love how I can take the adapter and use it on the other cars).

I would like to know the simpliest way of disabling that feature when I turn on the cassette/radio on. I never use the radio anyway.

thanks in advance,

Not sure what you mean - disable what feature?

Edit - never mind - it was in the title! Sorry!

You can simply unplug it in the trunk if you want to permanently keep it lowered. Or you can add a switch in the control line going to the antenna to be able to select it up or down as required.

Doesn't the smartenna take care of that, i.e its only up when the radio is on. If you listen to the radio...

Me I hardly every use the radio so I just unplugged the remote wire to the antennae, plus I hate the way the antennae looks. In hindsight I should of had the body shop shave it off when they had my car. hindsight is always 20/20.....

Edit: just read that you don't use the radio, so just unplug the remote wire...got to love free mods:biggrin:

Thanks everyone for your responses.

I do have smartantenna installed, but it's only effective for the CD Changer. The usage of cassette player still turns on the antenna.

I was hoping a simple fuse would do the trick, but I guess I'll look at the antenna assembly in the trunk space.

Check out the Stereo forum for some ideas on how to integrate your iPOD to the OEM deck (including how you can utilize the Smartenna when using the iPOD to automatically lower your antenna & retain the function for rare occasions when you might use the radio)
- more importantly you will get a much more satisfying (CD-like) audio quality from a direct input.
