Hi guys, looks like Petro Canada has the highest octane at 94, and the others seem to have 91 as their best gas, anyone confirm? thanks...

My only advice comes from my brother. At BMW University (that's what they call it) he had several lectures on fuel. Basically you want to stay away from Ethanol additives as they dissolve particles from the gas station's tanks and that will clog your injector & fuel system.

He's told me that many times when people bring their BMWs in for slow start, low power and other issues he asks them if they've been using 94 octane fuel. If so he recommends they fill the tank with Shell Gold (no ethanol). Often solves the problem. That's what I use.

You don't need 3 extra points of Octane as it doesn't result in more power necessarily.

I have seen certain petro-can stations that have 94.

Doesn't Sunoco have 94??

There is no Sunoco stations anymore...Sunoco was bought by PetroCanada, hence the reason that some Petro Canada stations have 94 Octane.

I have heard the same thing from various other sources that Sean stated, so I only used Shell Gold.

i get my gas at Husky and have never gone higher than 91 octane. I figured seeing that the NSX was designed 20 years ago, nothing higher than 91 octane existed so i just use that. I could be wrong though.

I just started using 94oct because of the turbo, before it 91oct from shell.
If you are boosted , you will need the extra octane.

Ditto. Paying for the last 3 pts of octane is good insurance against detonation :)

As an aside, you don't need to worry about the ill effects on ethanol on your fuel lines and the like on the NSX. Honda was one of the first to deal with this issue!!

I've put "regular" in for years and drive the Sh*t out of it and never had issues in 11 yrs I've owned it. Pioneer has Magnum 93 and there are still Sunoco in the USA which is only 10 min. from me - that'w where I the stations :>)........oh wait, some of you guys gave me heck for using regular, but still no issues and corners pretty fast on the track:wink:

Always have been running Sunoco 94, but now Petro 94 never had an issue. Never a bad idea to over octane any FI car stayed away from Pioneer got some bad 93 there a few times in the past. The Ferrari guys say Shell V Power is 'Ferrari' approved, I guess if I was in a rock and a hard spot I'd try to find a Shell station.
