Just picked up some Volk Gt-C's from Erick(so cal prime member) last week and already F'd one up!!!:frown: I'm an IDIOT!!! The rims came with tires but the rears were THIN so I went to get some at local tire store the next day, but out of stock so I had to order them..too bad they didn't have them in stock, cuz this never would have happened if I had better tread..
Today my dumbass got cabin fever and decided to go get the windows tinted down the road from my house(less then 2 miles away) I made it about a mile before I spun out making a left at the light on to the main highway..Luckily I didn't hit any of the cars next to me as I did a 360 across three lanes and only nailed the curb..Thank God I didn't slide the otherway into on coming traffic and hurt someone or myself!!! I'm pissed, but blessed at the same time...needless to say it could have been much worse..I ended up on the embankment and luckily was able to limp it home, obviously the rim and alignment are screwed, hopefully nothing else.... hopefully it is repairable as the tire is still holding air...Like I said, I'm very upset about the rim and alignment and possible other damage, but I'm lucky as hell I'm not in the hospital right now:biggrin: Be CAREFUL and don't be a dumbass like me and try to drive on wet with shity tread...

I was all set to get it lowered and aligned next week by Nick, hopefully I'll have it ready by then:confused:
Talk about expensive tint job that never even happened...
here are some pics...

What you do, take the turn at 40 MPH? Besides, why would your car TOUCH rain like we had in the last 2 days? Couldn't wait for dry conditions? HAHAHAHAHAHA....:)

I was barely going 20 mph in 2nd gear and started to lose it and let off the gas shift to third and then just lost it completely...once it started to go. it was too late.... I was NOT speeding at all..

So Rob, you want to trade me my old GT-U's for some GT-C's???

A least you're OK a little lighter in the wallet, but none the less OK.

W:eek:W - I'm surprised that rim is still holding air.

91x, Sorry to hear, glad the car AND you are ok! Bent rim can be easily taken care of. Let me know if you need some recommendation, or there has been previously provided if you do a search on here.

Talk to David or Marco. I've had several wheels repaired by David. Good work, turnaround is always ~1-2 days. Usually ~$80 for repair.

What the hell Mark!!!
You just got that car.
That's it, you are in the back of the pack for the Ortega run Mister.
But seriously, sorry to hear of your misfortune. I know how you feel.
See you soon.

No wonder you were going to give me that deal on your wheels...he he!!!

I'm glad that the demage is minor.

Don't assume that he was going crazy in the rain. It doesn't take much to spin the car when the treads on the back tires are gone.

Happened to me in the rain once. I was entering the fwy off the gas (25 mph max). The moment I applied gas very moderately, I felt the rear started to step out.

Glad you're ok!

I am anal about tire tread.

I spun out on an automatic Nissan 240SX 10 years ago, after a VERY light rain, with tires that weren't too bad.

I was making a turn, and stepped on the gas ever so lightly. As you know, the 240 SX is rear-wheel drive, and I did a 180 on the road. Fortunately I didn't hit anyone or anything.

One hour later after that event, I had brand new tires.

It could have been much worse, one wheel damaged is not bad at all. Perhaps you should purchase goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's, those kick ass in the rain. Did the traction control kick in at all?

Thanks for the tip about Advanced Tire, David.
Marco did an awesome job and incredible price too!!! I can't tell where the damage even was:confused:

Post some pix soon.

glad you are ok, never realized how common nsx snap spin occured until it happend to me and doing a search here on prime. I spun out going about 40-50 onto a fwy onramp 1am on actual day of new years eve. Spun 180 and one side of car was half over the concrete side gutter walls along edge. Scratched up one rim, bent the bottom brace and scratched bottom of exhaust. It wasn't even raining, just really cold that night and tank was almost empty, i was not going faster than i've taken that exact corner many times before. I think i will take my rims to advanced tire as well.

yeah... you have to ensure that the tires are warmed up.

I'd recommend Al Reed Wheel Polishing in Anaheim. He's been in business for over 30 years. One of the original guys to repair/refinish wheels ever in Southern California.
