Anyone familar with changing the alternator and A/C belts on the NSX. I am gonna do this by myself, but a little guidance with the process wouldn't hurt. Many thanks in advance.

Thank you. But my laptop with the regular connection won't do the job, and I need the info quick.

Deqle,

This is a fairly easy job.

For the A/C belt loosen the large nut holding the adjustment pulley in place first (14mm if I recall), then loosen the long 12mm adjustment bolt to relieve the tension on the belt. Replace and adjust the belt so you have about 1/4-3/8 inch or so flex with your thumb at mid point on the belt between the two pulleys (crank and adjustment pulleys)

For the Alternator belt remove the plastic cover. Loosen the TWO 14mm bolts on either side of the alternator, and LOWER it using the adjustment bolt (10mm), replace and adjust tension by using the adjustment bolt, then tighten both. Adjust tension like the A/C belt, using the mid point between the two pulleys and get 3/8-1/2 inch flex.

When you start the engine check to see that you are not getting any "flapping" of the belt. Of so, adjust them a little tighter. I have also found it is a good idea to check after running it for a day to be sure, they do stretch.

Thanks Larry, I did all that without the manual, but one mistake, I broke the 10 mm bolt in the process, too much pressure on it. Now I am gonna need a replacement, wonder where I can find one, and the job would be complete

Which one?

The one for the alternator adjustment or the A/C? Probably the alternator, since the pivot bolt can be very tight and when you tighten up on it, if you are not careful you can stress the bolt.

Just for future reference, the smaller the fastener the smaller the torque

NSXTASY, yes, Acura dealership, $5.30, crazy. Yeah, Larry, it is the 10mm bolt tension adjuster on the alternator. The only problem is they ain't gonna be able to get one for me until tuesday, guess I am gonna be doing something else on the weekend then. Try to hunt down my project vehicle, does any one here know much hp the 2.0l on the MR2T can handle before reliability is an issue. Just for reference, stock is 200hp crankshaft. Want to build a nice, quick, killer MR2. Thanks
