I don't see why it would hurt but it only takes seconds to disconnect it from the car...

No problem charging a batteryc while its in the NSX. Even for winter storage, I put the float charger on mine for months at a time with the battery in the car and connected. Done that for 8 years with no problems (and the same battery).

But, never, ever use a trickle charger for long term storage - use a float charger, aka battery tender, only! A trickle charger left on too long can reduce battery life.

+1, next week my battery is going on 7 years (probably the kiss of death as I'm jinxing it now), I used to have to jump start my car every couple of weeks during the winter months, now, even with the original battery, just take off the "tender" and I'm good to go!

Check out Griots Garage @griotsgarage.com as their Battery Manager is what you are looking for and it is "Guaranteed For Life". I have had one for 10 years now that is on my NSX all winter and during the other months it is not in use. I also have one on my 2002 RL when it not being utilized.

If you have your car at a show for four days and are only using the stereo and occasional lights in the car will a trickle charger be OK?

I am debating having my car on display for four days, but want to show off the stereo mods. I will not be starting the car since it is inside for the duration of the show.

The battery was dead so I hooked up a small 1.25 amp Schumacher charger directly on the battery and left it connected for most of the month. Yesterday the charger's red and green lights were on which means the battery is charged. The next test is whether it can hold a charge.

I don't know the difference between a trickle charger and a battery minder but the Schumacher charger will not overcharge a battery as it turns on and off automatically.

I just bought a float charger yesterday & hooked on battery now, do I have to leave the hood open or I can close the hood ? Because I readed on the charger's instruction manual, keep battery vented & never charge battery in enclosed area. Pls advise.

My hood is partially open to allow the cord for the battery tender to reach my outlet.

Because the battery is behind spare tire, & for the easy access, I modified the the +/- cable clip to +/- connector type & run the wire to the front spoiler lip/grill area for easy plug & charge, basically I can closed the hood & charge battery at same time, that is why I am not sure if I really have leave the hood up or not. If any one knows this about this, let me know. Thanx.

It doesn't make a difference IMHO.

in float charger instruction manual: excessive heat &/or poor ventilation can cause battery explosion, that is why I have this question.

I pull the wire up from under the car, have kept the hood closed, and the car under a cover for the past three years. I use the Ctek unit and have never had any problem!!

You will need more then a trickle charger, get a 10A automatic charger.

Somthing like this would be fine. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Schu...2625100QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

Much easier to hook up the charger to the jumper terminal in the engine compartment fuse box than directly to the battery. Especially for those of you still using the inflatable spare tire.
