Are all battery posts that are of the same polarity, supposed to be the same diameter? For example, the diameter of the +(positive) and -(negative) post on a Brand 'A' battery be the same as that of a Brand 'B'? I ask this because I recently replaced the battery in my car with a Motorcraft brand. It fits and and works but when I tightened the terminal for the -(negative) post, it never got so tight that the terminal couldn't be completely freed by hand. As you can imagine, that doesn't exactly give me a lot of confidence when I want to drive the car that the cable will stay firmly connected to the battery and not work its way off.
TIA

Replace the ground lead, it is stretched. Pretty common from over-tightening.

To answer the original question they should be standard. Also remember the terminals are tapered, so be sure the connector is fully at the bottom of the post.

I never understood why they make the posts tapered. You would think if anything you would make it tapered where the top was broad and the botton narrow so the connector would be more prone to stay on or just make it the same diameter top to bottom. If I were to guess why it was made this way I would say it would be to facilitate the installation of the connector.

Are you sure you bought a negative battery post? Positive is larger than negative.

The Acura part should fit the bill but I would recommend you look into battery posts used for car audio as they are much higher quality. They will have extra terminals for any extra wiring you may need. Brands like Stinger, Metra (Tsunami), Lightning Audio, Streetwires, etc. are all pretty nice. Depending on which one you get, they can be extremely tight fitting. I think I can pick up my car using my Lightning Audio terminals. They will never stretch and should last the life of the car...

posts are cast, they wouldn't get out of the mold if they were tapered the other way.

I haven't bought a battery terminal at all. It is all factory connections. Nothing has been altered in that respect. I did however purchase a Motorcraft battery instead of an OEM Acura battery. That is why I was wondering about the post diameter.
I actually have some a/m positive and negative terminals in my garage that are gold plated and very nice. I think the positive even has a digital voltage gauge made into it.

These will work for you...
You can find them at most auto shops.
I have used them before. they are made of Lead.
