Battery draw while engine is running

Does anyone know for sure whether there is a draw from the battery while the engine is running? From what i've heard and read, the engine only uses the battery to start the car and run accessories while the engine is off.

Am I wrong?

Making the small assumption that your alternator is running as speced, properly tightened belt, and you have not added enough additional electrical stuff to need more power then the alternator puts out, you are correct. In fact, the alternator should be recharging the battery most of the time(engine running of course), so it is recharged to full capacity for the next start.
