You may have really killed the battery. If the battery is really shot , you may not be able to jump it . I had the same experience with a bad battery in mine. For awhile I could jump it and it got gradually worse over time to the point whereby it would not jump at all. Replacing the battery was the answer.

Replace the battery and then see if it starts. I would be careful about jumping the battery too much since you have a lot of electronic goodies inside.

If the battery is severly drained you may have to charge it for a while for it to build up a charge again. This will work only if the battery was still in good condition. I would stay away from rapid charging it as this could lead to battery damage.

Take battery to autozone and see if it can be recharged? They usually test it for you for free..

Be sure to price a new INTERSTATE BATTERY. I have had really good service from every one that I have had. Also check the warranty. The Interstate has a 18 MONTHS FREE REPLACEMENT!!! I bet there aren't many others that have that good of warranty.

I would bet that a new battery, clean the connectors, coat them with grease and you will be back on the road.

Remember to disconnect the ground first and connect it last. That way you will never arc to ground while connecting the positive connection.

You would lose that bet. The better batteries on the market include free replacement during the first 24-36 months. So the Interstate battery warranty is shorter than many others.

When I recently priced batteries, I checked everywhere - dealer, independent mechanic, Autozone, Wal-Mart, Sam's Club, Costco, etc. The lowest price (by far) AND the longest warranty came with the batteries sold at Costco. They are sold under their Kirkland house brand name, and are made by Johnson Controls, one of the leading manufacturers of automotive batteries (they also make the Optima battery). IIRC, the Costco battery had one of the highest CCA figures, and came with a warranty for 36 months full replacement, and 100 months total.

Yes, 24-36 month free replacement with 100 month limited warranty seems to be more standard. 18 seems a bit short.

Ya see what happens when you get deployed for 18 months and sent to Afghanistan. Ya just get out of touch with what is the latest and greatest in auto parts. Thanks for keeping me straight. LOL

Now I know that the OPTIMA battery is a 36 months free replacement and after that 36 months prorated, but they cost like $150.

I'll have to check the next time I'm in Costco. I know the conventional size battery there has a 100-month prorated warranty, and I'm pretty sure the free replacement period is 36 months. I'm just not sure of the price. The battery I bought there for the Integra was $37, but it's a different group size.
