I know the honda tool is not cheap. I was at Harbor Freight one day and found this. www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=99849
I have used 3 times already. On my integra and prelude and my nsx. It works great. Its only 20.00 bucks. I know its not the honda one but it look just like it in the manual. To use it i just put it on torqued it on and with a couple of taps with a hammer on the little nub where the threaded part of the ball joint goes in and pop goes the ball joint.

I have that tool also... my only advisory is to be careful with some of the joints that are REALLY really frozen on... If it's even a tad off you can deform the threaded portion and then be in deep $@#* from there... after deforming one (it's so awful to fix) I ended up buying the honda one...

it is quite pricey... but the quality and feel of popping joints with it is a world of difference

I knew that so I got a nut from the hardware store and threaded it on so the tool barely touched the ball joint threads.

even still with a nut on the threads because of the way the angle the tool clamps down you can still bend the whole threaded section and jar up a few threads beyond the nut you're using.

if you do use it, i'd suggest using several nuts which cover almost all the threads but maybe one or two (just enough to get it to break).
