I've been trying to do my tail light led conversion for days, and I have this giant pot of boiling water that resembles the trash can Oscar in Sesame Street lives in, just smaller so it fits on my stove. But STILL, a part of this long taillight sticks out. And just as I get one side slightly apart the other side cools and it's a problem again.

So I want to bake them in the oven (tried it at very low temp nothing happened), what is the temp I need to set my big baking oven at so I don't damage anything?

Anyone done this?

I haven't done NSX parts but I'm going to assume it's going to be similar.

I've done Lexus headlights, fog lights, S2000 Headlights, and a couple other friends headlights before.

I always went lower heat and slow and steady. Heat, pry a little, if it cools throw it back in and keep at it. Better to go slow and steady rather than too hot and melt something.

Depending on oven of course I found that 200-220 degrees worked best. start off at 15 mins and start playing with times. when it cools a bit throw it back in for 8-10 mins. Always always always keep an eye on it. Patience is key. Good luck and keep at it

when I did my center taillight, I wrapped it completely in a damp towel, then put it in the oven on 200f for 15 mins, checking every 5.

Make sure the metal posts/no part of the light is directly touching a metal part of the oven or it will melt.

Then I used a small screwdriver and shop gloves to pry it apart SLOWLY. Put it back in the oven wrapped up if the glue started to re-harden.

I have baked appx 7 sets of lights. Civics, integra's wrx and evo that I have done retrofits on. The best way to do it is put the oven at 350. Then turn it off.
Use a baking pan and put wax paper on the pan so the light doesnt stick. Also make sure the sides of the light dont touch the sides of the oven or it will burn.
Then in 5 mins take the light out and use a small flat screwdriver to slowly pry apart the light and the work all the way aroud. You can also use a old butter knife that helps pry the edges apart.
Keep a pair of oven mitts around. Bc the light will be warm to hot and can burn the skin.
To put them back together just put the oven back to 350 and repeat.
Use some vice grips to squeeze the tabs close when you take them out for the reseal.
If you have any questions pm me your number and I will help the best i can.
Over the winter I will prob post up a diy when I do my tail lights.

Thanks guys. Dream powered isn't 350 too hot?

Not at all. Your not baking it at 350. Once the oven temps is at 350. You turn the oven off. As you put the light In the temp is going to start going down. Within the 5 mins the temp will drop. I never measured the temp to see how much it dropped, but when I usually turn the oven on to do the second light it is around 200, which is about 10 mins later.
Also there is a sealant that Nissan sells that is the best I've found for resealing the light. I can get you a part # tomorrow if your interested.

Sure, that'd be great! Thanks!

Just did pair last week put in oven is best so no condensation put in iver at lowesr temp and after 10 min take one out and try and pull it should start to seperate if its still hard then put back in but up the temp 10 degees

what your tring to do is melt the glue which is almost like those glue guns you buy with the sticks you put in the back. the glue will melt before the plastic.

I wrap with a towel and place on a cookie sheet. I have not tried the boil water method seems like you would need a metal bucket 3 feet tall to keep the submerged long enough dunno

but I do remember at 190 its pulls apart like butter

I've had the best luck with a heat gun. I prefer the heat gun approach because I can better control where I apply the heat to. You really don't need to heat the areas that have no adhesive around it.

I was able to use this method to perform the FX-35 Projector Retrofit on my Tacoma.
