Got pulled over last night... have the Passport 8500 and it didn't go off until the cop was right in front of me (me driving south, him driving north).

Anyone know what kind of radar AZ DPS has? It was Ka band...

He wasn't too happy that I had a detector, one of those photo radar shields on my license plate, and an expired insurance card... ooops!

The last time I was headed up to Vegas I saw a white care coming up ahead as I was coming around a bend on a 2-way highway in the middle of one of those small towns on the way up there. I assumed it was a cop just to be safe and as I was hitting the brakes my V-1 started going off like crazy. Luckily I saw him ahead of time though because by the time he got me I had slowed down to the speed limit. Anyway, I think the police here have an instant-on type of laser radar that they can use. My detector didn't go off until he saw me and turned his radar on to try and catch me. Same thing happened again while going through the dam, I was driving along those curvy 2-way roads and a police car came around a turn going the other way and again, my V1 didn't go off until he apparently tried to catch me, but I was going under the speed limit there so I had nothing to worry about.

Would you have said the same had it been our little jaunt coming back from Strawberry:biggrin:  Good times!

Dear Orbusrex,

NSXmas and I met last Saturday night at the Pavillions. I am a commander for DPS (27 years) and am currently the commander on assignment of ALEA (Arizona Law Enforcement Academy aka Phoenix Regional Academy) till july '08. I was hell on wheels when I worked the road but I've mellowed with age although my thirst for speed and performance persists.

Last I heard they are still using HR-12's radar on two band...we've been transitioning to Talon Sighted Laser devices for about 5-years now. Some VASCAR's are out there too and just measure time and distance to calculate speed.

Look forward to meeting more NSX owners in the state.

How's USBP treating you? Tough job but more important now than ever!!!

Just got my NSX from a Sacramento/Auburn PD officer two weeks ago fullfilling a lifelong dream (atleast from 1991 on!).

Hi,

Spent the day finishing relandscaping the backyard...lots of shovel and pick-axe work...I was wasted and spent the evening relaxing with the family on the porch. That was relaxing and restful although not as much fun as a ride in the NSX. SOOOOOO, today I rode to my brothers fire station (he a battalion chief w/Mesa FD) and showed him the car (he has a black Toyota MR2 Spyder he NOW wants to throw rocks at!!) He LOVED the NSX. Then I took the long way around home on the freeway. Got my fix for a few days.

Will take the car to Mark Basche for the timing belt and H2O pump replacement. Just a precaution as I don't need any catastrophes,

Hope to see you soon maybe we can plan a ride within the next couple of weeks it is one of the best times of the year to take the top off and put some rubber to the asphalt.

Can you think of anything? Payson-Strawberry-Mormon Lake and eat lunch or dinner at the lodge? Sedona? Wickenburg-Yarnell Hill-Prescott?

Fire chief?

His name isn't "larry" by any chance is it? "larry" of "Larry Had a LIttle Lamb, who's legs were spread wide open" fame??

Wow. I'm rubbin' elbows with celebrities!! :)
