Does the noise go away or get quieter after some time once the car warms up? Does it happen in a straight line or get worse when you turn at low speeds?
I am having a similar problem and having a hell of a time diagnosing it.

Actually it doesn't happen UNTIL the car warms up substantially. When its cold, i get nothing. My head technician and myself feel like that has to do with the temperature of the grease inside of the axle boot. When the car warms up, its a pretty noticable sound. I haven't seen any differences in straight lines or turns. Sounds the same. Unfortunately, since our cars rear wheels do not turn left and right, we don't have an easy way to tell if axles are going out, like the front wheel drive cars with the same type of drive axles do.
