Autoweek and NSX

Finally catching up . . . .

I finally saw the Autoweek article. They didn't mention the upgrade to 3.2L and only sorta referenced that it went from a 5-speed to a 6-speed. But whatever.

I hate to admit it but they showed the original on fat fives. Am I just getting a bit nostalgic, but can someone PLEASE explain to me why the fat fives sometimes strike me as perfectly fitting and good looking? Then I ask myself "Can you REALLY think 15/16 combo looks good, especially when there are so many better alternatives?!?" I dunno, maybe I'm going nuts.

It's iconic. The car on the poster had fat fives. So did Mr. Wolf's car in Pulp Fiction and the black one on (the original) 90210. Basically all NSXs depicted in popular culture or early advertising had 'em.

Don't underestimate the important of iconography.

They ground it in its time and make you think of how much of a spaceship it must have looked like when it was brand new.

I also love the fat fives. If I had a '91-'93, I would keep those wheels on there.

I remembered the car that Tiffany drove on 90210 to be green… did a quick search, and it's black. Was it always black?
Also, this one had the 7 spoke wheels, not the fat fives.

I'm in the market for some minty fresh fat fives now. But I can't pay those prices on ebay where they sell them individually for almost list.
