AutoCross in September?

Thanks for starting the thread! I'm in and would love to help.

Anytime probably have a check list of things we need to do. May be he can help us get going.

I can think of the following items:

Attendants:
Application/Release forms
Payment

Budgeting:
Track rental
Minimum attendants requirement
lunch
equipment
Out houses
ambulance
trophies (?)

Track:
Track layout design
cones, timing device
Track and timing equipment setup

Scheduling:
Run group assignment
Corner worker assignment
Scoring/Results

I'm sure there are plenty that I have left out.

My club in CSCC just put on a sunset to sunrise autox this past weekend at Cal Speedway. Almost 300 cars showed up and I was Chief of Grid. Nothing like autox in the dark with 500 of your best friends.

So doing this should be a walk in the park. Right? Anyway, glad to help if I can. I already have an autox weekend the 25/26 in Sept and 3 weekends in Oct - 9/10, 16/17, and 30/31. So as long as it doesn't fall on those dates..... I'm good to go.

As long as things go as planned with Hollywood Park(or whoever the new owner is of the corner lot), we should be having an AutoX on Sept. 19th. Steve Riter and myself will be puting together a list of "to do's" shortly. At this time, the only way we are going to be able to pull this off is with many, many people helping out. In the years past, I did have some help, but not to the extent needed now. After purchasing the timing equipment, I needed someone to help out with setup and running of the event and Mark Stepp donated his time in the last event(March 04) and helped out tremendously. Unfortunately, I cannot commit myself to the level I have previously, with family and work getting top priority. This is going to be very short notice to get done what needs to be done, but it is doable. Cdub has done very well with the list, but it would need some fine tuning and needs to be prioritized. Excluded are bodies that are at the event only to work and not run, with very few wanting to do that. Those people usually get paid or compensated for their time. :)

I have entry/release forms in Word format with auto-calculate fields. They just need to be updated with new info., dates and legal jibber-jabber.

John,

Thanks for the PS job. Every time I try, it looks totally chopped to hell. Not too sure about the bronze with the lbb.

What do you need to bring?

If I can make it, it will be my first autocross. What do you need to participate?

Helmet, gloves, etc?

You do need a helmet rated snell2000 or higher, gloves are optional.
I will be glad to help out in any way I can leading up to the event. On event day I hope to be a regular participant and drive in every run group I'm scheduled for. Is this going to be NSX exclusive or are other mkes allowed?

If someone is needed to work the event and not run I am willing to do so at this AutoX. Let me know what needs to be done. Gil

any updates? sign up or volunteer/job assignment sheet?

I just heard back from HP the other day and yes, it was scheduled for Sept 19th, but there is no way to pull off a successful event in 4 weeks. I did need to hear back from them before announcing the date, as the corner parking lot was sold and we needed a clearance from the new owners before we could proceed. I am rescheduling it this week for Oct or Nov. I am making a list of peeps who want to help, so PM or email me. :D

I'm ready to non-run :( but very happy to help. Let me know what you need and I'll try to help.

Ok, the new date has been set. It is Saturday, October 30th . It was the only day left we could have before they start racing horses again. If we have enough help and support, we are going to buy a display for the timing and continue with the date as planned. More details to follow shortly.

John/steve,
Can you do a "New" separate post w/ sticky? This would be easier to keep track of.

Thanks
