I'll be instructing at this HPDE event, and I just found out that they've cut the price drastically to boost attendance. This is with Chin Motorsports, run by NSX owners who usually bring their CHIN-NSX, and they give you a ton of track time. $199 for two days on the track is a steal. Plus they're using two different track configurations - the south course on Sunday and the full course on Monday, so you'll get to experience the whole 3.6-mile track.

Here's the announcement:

To our member/drivers in the midwestern region of the country, Chin Motorsports extends a special invitation to our inaugural track event at Autobahn Country Club, in Joliet, Illinois. This 2-day event is scheduled for the end of August: Sunday, 8/29, and Monday 8/30. On the Sunday, we will use the ABCC South course, 15-turn, 2.1 mile configuration, and on Monday, the 3.6 mile/19 turn Full course. An exciting opportunity to drive 2 different tracks in one track event! Complete details and online registration is available now on our website, www.chinmotorsports.com. Hope your track season has been successful so far, and we look forward to seeing you again then!

Disclaimer: I have no affiliation with Chin Motorsports except I know a lot of the folks.

Chin always runs a good event. My only complaints in the past have been they were always more expensive than other groups.... can't complain about this with this one.... this is a great deal and should be a great event.

Veryyyyyy Interesting....I only planned on tracking my car once this year but this is tempting. I may be up for the Sunday

$199 for both days... are you sure?

There is a $50 memebership fee but that still is a steal.

I posted this up on the S2KI Midwest Region.

Hey Paul, I might be going to this as well!

I had a great time...Chin runs a tight ship keeping things moving along and on schedule. The 30 minute sessions are very nice. I only wish I had the energy to make it to the Happy Hour, though it would seem if all run groups were on the course at once it would be a bit crowded.

For those who are not familiar with the Chin format, the final track hour of the day is called Happy Hour and participants in all three run groups are welcome to drive. I was out there with my student the second half of the hour on Monday and there was very little traffic at all. Granted, the first half hour was probably more crowded, and Sunday was probably more crowded than Monday, but given the number of cars Chin registers (much fewer than many other groups), I doubt that it is all that crowded. Try it next time and see for yourself.

P.S. Nice to meet you, Phil!
