Hey Neo...

Newbie here...

Have just opened up the vista of possibilities after deciding that the Mazda RX-8 I had waited two years just didn't cut it. I wanted to stay Jap, as I've have a bunch of great Jap cars and the NSX has always stood out.

I was suprised that there aren't more Australians on the board! Probably due to the stupid price of the NSX new.

This DOES look like a good deal, but am concerned about the Auto. I do a lot of Autocrossing and Sprints so an auto is a no no.

Do you know of any other links to useful information regarding owning/purchasing/maintaining an NSX in Aus?

There's mention that the tyres for these are really expensive... are they a "special" for this car or just an unusual size?

Sorry to be boring you with questions you've probably answered but after spending a couple of hours on the board (and getting lost in the "samurai pictures" thread) I now have only MORE questions!!!

Ric

the tires wear very fast evidently (rear). The camber has been aggresively dialed (although it can be improved) The tire size isnt that special or costly (i guess) until you put aftermarket rims on ending with the width 'xx by 10' :D

I would refrain from an auto too. Slightly less power im told, plus, well............ its an auto! Two of the nsx's in Adelaide were privately imported as wrecks, because as you know the prices in Oz are inflated.

Speak to Honda dealerships on maintenance. Personally i would go to a private trusted mechanic (although few i bet are experienced with NSX)

Nordic Honda (in Adelaide)(speak to Greg, say Aaron;purple crx said hello ;)) is very helpful for these types of questions. Melbourne is where all the honda parts are sent in the first place so it might be worth your while to pop down there for a chat.

Hope this helps.

its a huge hassle unless you come over here and live for a year then bring it back as a private import. You need to prove you owned the car for a year and lived here for a year though ;)

mfx- u still got the skyline ??

going up in class ?

In terms of the NSX I wouldnt bother with importing one.. get a locally sold one..

NEO- Its cheap the car but auto... I think it defeats the purpose..

ric- unfortunately supply on the 2nd hand market has dried cos I bought one :) and my friend bought one as well recently the others available are over the 90K> ..

with NSX's u just have to wait and do lots of research..
good luck !

I am still looking around at NSX's as they are such an awesome car.

I want to upgrade at the end of next year, after a year of shows with the Skyline. The trouble is, I don't really see most of my other options as an upgrade. Supra, 33GTR, 34GTt, S15. From where my skyline is now, these cars are really a side step. Basically it was between a 34GTR or an NSX. I would prefer the NSX, as 34GTR's are getting more common over here now, and there have been too many car jacking's for them.

Jeff.
