August 26th Ark-La-Tex meet in Baton Rouge

This meet has been discussed in the "Louisiana Roll Call" thread, but it would be nice to have it's own thread to keep track of it.

I am coming from Shreveport, and will go through Alexandria and I will meet up with GregZ there. Then the Lake Charles people (including sjoes) could meet us in Lafayette.


So if someone who knows BR better than me could come up with a good game plan (where to drive, eating locations, activities, and photo shoot spots) that would be great.

I can update this thread with info and who is coming.

Right now, meet in Baton Rouge on Sunday August 26th

I'll be there , but may not be in the X. A/C is out and the clutch is slipping. But I'm sure I can muster up something decent to roll in!
 
I will be there. We should all meet at the Hooters right off of the College Drive exit or the TJ Ribs off of the Acadian Thruway exit.

I am not a big Hooters guy, in fact I haven't been to Hooter's in 15 years at least, it is just that they are right off of the interstate and they have big windows where we can see someone drive up, while T J Ribs does not.

Once everyone is there we can head over to LSU and find some good spots for photo ops, etc and we can go to the Chimes to eat or we can go to the Caterie for great sandwiches and drinks.

I am hoping we can drive down the river road for a little ways and find a place where we can go up on the levee and take pictures with the Mississippi River as a background. Also we can take some pictures out by LSU stadium and by the shady LSU lakes.

If anybody feels like it we can go to one of the Casinos. There is one in particular that has a nice curved drive where they might line up our cars in front of the casino while we play or look around.

And we can go to the State Capitol building and take pictures there. There are many places for photo ops.

Or we can drive out to the Amite River to the Prop Stop where the Redneck version of Girls Gone Wild is filmed every Sunday.

Count me in boys if the good Lord says yeah.
 
Looks like I am not going to be able to make this event. My car is down with a bad clutch. If the parts make it in and i have it repaired in time, then i may come but its doubtful.
 
Why don't we make it for sometime in late September or early October when It won't be so hot and those of us with Targa tops can ride around with our tops off and not sweat sooo much.

It would probably be a lot better all around becasue EVERYONE COULD BE THERE and it would not be so friggin hot and humid. It really is only bearable outside for about 30 minutes for me.

I moved away from here to Destin, Fl when I was 23 then went to San Clemente and Laguna Beach( Orange County, Ca) because I like nice weather and sites. I am only back here now because my dad is ill and I wanted to be here for him and to assist my mom on his final back nine.

It is hotter than two mice screwin' in a wool sock down here right now!

If y'all are down with that I would vote for us to meet when all of you can come with your vehicles and when we can really enjoy the meet. What do y'all think?

Thats fine by me. There will always be people who can't make it. But if we want to make it later so that we have cooler weather, that works for me. We need to go ahead and set a date though.
 
As much as I hate to admit it, Putting this off till its a lil cooler may be the right plan of action. But, If there is a few that is persistant in meeting next week I will go to it and the one planned at a later date! Just let me know.
 
im fine with moving it. some lady friends invited me to go tubing this sunday and i hesitantly turned them down to go ride around with a buncha guys and their "exotic" cars.
 
Hate to move it too, but sounds like it is the best thing. I was going to have to miss a few things to come, so this will work out for the best for me too.
So let's move it to mid Sept. or early Oct. We need to set a date soon so everyone can put it on their calenders.
 
The only weekend that I can't make it would be the weekend of November 9th. Let me know. Over and out!
 
Glad to see it was post poned. I really want to make it out that way, but right now the cars apart getting some parts painted and installed. Looking forward to the new date.:biggrin:
 
Well, I'm glad it got postponed also. Hey did you all know when you race on a clutch already slipping, that it doesn't last much longer? ! ? LOL ! Hey at least I won!
Car is loaded up ready to head out to Houston to drop it off at Carl M.'s place for a clutch swap. So I should be up for the next event when it comes.
But on the down side I did list it in the Auto Trader today along with the Lotus and all the others toys. Looking to get a R34 GTR.

so i guess carl is going to do the clutch swap for ya, i think he is the best guy for the NSX. btw, i am going to houston pick up that MKIV, sold most my NSX parts already. all i have rims(maybe) harness bar and 4 point harness, and shift knob ..and some small stuff.

BTW~~ lucky you for the R34. i wanna see it ( no i wanna drive it) when you get it home. lol

Congrats on the Supra! You need to at least do a thread here so we can see your new baby, and the haters can thrash you cuz ....well they are haters!!! LOL

don't congrats me yet on the R34, I don't own one yet. gonna be a hard goal to get to. I must sell about 6 cars then find the car I want. Prices are about 60 to 80K. Not something very easy to pull off!

Congrats to both of you guys! Can't wait to see both cars! I think those two cars would be the top of my list if I ever sell the NSX. But yall are still going to have to come out to the meet when we have it!
Post pics when yall get your new rides!!
 
I will be going to Austin also. So how about a meet super early Oct. or late Sept.?
 
got my nsx back with a new clutch and new timing belt/water pump. Let me know when you guys decide on a new date.
