Yeah, seems like the track day I'm going to will be wet, do you have any suggestions or precaution for attending the wet track with us already have experienced track on dry??

as for driving cautions.. As far as driving in rain, I lived in Seattle and drove the nsx for most of the time thoughout the winter... but I know the pace on track is very diff. to driving on street, so drive at street speed on first couple laps and then speed up accordingly??

tools/ accesories we need on track... Big umbrella, big plastic bag for rain protection on tools and stuff that we don't want it wet.. anything else??

brake pads selection (I'm running street axxis and got a panther plus for track, but not sure if I'll still need the race pad for the wet track.)

Tires: stock 15/16, New (couple hundred miles with one track session), Half worn 17/17 street set ups..
Wondering if the different tread height and tire wall would make a diff. on wet track.??

thans in advance for advises. :)

Driving in the rain at the track usually requires you to be smooth when applying the throttle, brakes, steering as such it's a good learning experience since you will reach the handling limits of the car at much lower speeds. Don't be too concerned about the speed, instead concentrate more on how the car feels.

That being said you need to be aware about the differences between the dry line and the wet line as well as trying to stay away from painted surfaces as well as standing water. I'm sure that all of these aspects will be discussed during your drivers meeting prior to the event.

Other things to bring along would be a waterproof jacket as well as some towels so that you can dry off.

The street pads should be fine for the event, for your future reference the P+ works pretty well in the wet as well.

As far as the wheels/tires combo goes, the more tread the better when driving in the wet, look at the wet traction ratings for both tires and choose the one that is higher. FYI, In the wet wider does not always mean better, so your 15/16 setup might handle better than the 17/17 setup.

Safe driving,

Ken

Rain-X

NSXDreamer2,
Get some Rain-X, and follow the directions applying it. I am very impressed with how well it makes water bead up on the windshield and improves visibility.

Watch out for the rubber from the drag strip if there has been a big event since the last rain.

Have fun.

thanks dave

I had been a satisfied die-hard-red-necked fans of Rain X, a very satisfied customer for 10 years... Yeap, you know it, fresh coat of Rain X will be applied definately...

They actually did changes on the track layout, so no more driving on the drag strap coming out of turn 8.. but then we have to live with a fairly bumpy straight away.... Thus making me nervous about your water puddles stories...

hey NSXDreamer2,
as far as I know, the driving line for the rain at PR is exactly the same as the dry line.
However, its very important that you stay off the curbs on turn 5 b/c they will be very very slippery.
Panther Plus is very good in the rain cuzI had experienced it in the rain before at Bremerton Raceway.
Just remember to brake early than you usually do, smooth throttle, and smooth steering.
See ya at the track on thursday!
