Does anyone here do their own alignment?

I'd want to try out a few different settings but I can't afford the $ or the time to visit the alignment guy every single time.

Some folks have had great reviews for tools such as the Fastrax Alignment Tool but I can't imagine being able to get under the car w/o a proper lift.

Hoping for some clever suggestions or success stories anyone?

I have a toe tool (bar with pointers on the end) I've been using for a number of years and the NSX is actually too wide to use it on the rear. Something like the toe plates + tape measure would be the way to go if you don't have an awesome jig like our Aussie friend above.

The camber gauges are accurate enough. The key is to have a level floor or at least mark the floor so when you roll the car, it ends up in the same spot every time. I went digital and made my own similar to this:

The trouble I always have is finding the centerline of the car. If you start with a straight car, just align one side at a time (this is for toe) and you don't have to worry about that at all.

Good luck

Oh I should mention you can change the toe without jacking the car up. The adjusters are right there. Camber is another story though, I've always done with adjustment with weight off of the car and then tightened it down with the weight back on the car (lower the car down onto wood blocks to gain the height to crawl).

A sharpie is really handy for this type of work. Especially for the toe change :)

If you want to buy the link is; http://www.smartracingproducts.com/catalog/alignment.htm

Between these two products (no affiliation) I have aligned ALL of my cars (MR2, Del Sol, Miata and NSX) for both daily driving duty and track specifications. These are quality pieces and about as expensive as getting two alignments done "professionally" (I use quotations because when I have gone to get my alignment done the "tech" never gets my car to the specs I tell him) and I can dial toe to within 1/32nd and 0.0x for camber. If you have a jack, the space, time and patience this is a great investment.

If you want to check out my setup you can always PM me and look at the parts themselves or even try them out!

When I used to track my nsx I used this:

Which I just happen to be selling here:
