Ok, I have been looking at 996tt's and GT2's for a while now. I think I might have found my perfect 996tt.

Here is where I need some advice. Technically I could afford both but, these ugly things called reason and sense come into play. I have been talking to Brandonson about the lovefab kit and am just about ready to pull the trigger on that... until I saw this. I have posted up a poll of my three options. Help out here guys and gals please!!!!!

that is definitley pretty fresh, if you put some volk te37's on that its got my vote as long as you keep the nsx.

100k could also buy you a nice nsx type r... just some food for thought

Don't think so.......

Maybe in a wet dream lol

My bad, he's not in america so he gets all the cool shit! Still don't think 100k would buy a NA2 R

Yeah, not R money but, only work in Iraq. Still live in the states though.

Honestly, that car is extremely ugly IMO. The "Turbo" on the sub box sealed it for me.

Ack.

There are way nicer 911's out there...but I'd still keep the NSX...don't give in to the dark side, you'll regret it.

How long before the Turbos start to leak. The guy says he never drives it but it has 24,000 miles on it??? Looks like a nice car IMO the price seems way to high for a car that looks just like a regular 911.

A guy in my office had one and had to have the engine rebuilt 2x, couldn't wait to get out of his lease. The car is great when it runs, ride and handling are super, but even with all the CF, from the outside looks like everyother 911 derived car. Good color, if you sell the NSX for it, in time you'll be back, they always do regret the decision!!!

I had a 911 and I also blew the motor:frown: VERY easy to do. Do the new cars still have the cylinder sleeves? I remember opening the engine cover on mine and seeing the sleeve not even connected to the block anymore. :frown: But man that car sounded GREAT when it was running!

Keep the NSX and buy another mid-engine aka Ferrari  ! Any 3 serie's Fcar would compliment the NSX so much it's crazy! Sorry I'm a Ferrari guy:redface:. Heck you might even want to consider a Lotus Esprit TT?

mmmmm cup o noodles yum!

Overpriced and not my taste. Then again - you might just love it.

You can find great deals on 996TT all day long.

Again, GT3= {if it must be a P car} 400hp no turbo problems whatsoever. Or NSX+ Lovefab turbo system=600/800 hp, way less than 100 grand.

I agree with the GT3 sentiment. And also, the exterior just screams look at me but not in a good way. I work in west L.A. and P-cars are just way too common.

It's probably fast as hell, sounds terrific, and drives excellent.

However, it's one of the tackiest P-cars I've ever seen. I'm not the one buying it though so that's your business. A couple shots of that interior and I thought I was at HIN looking at a trophy winning civic.

If you are going to get one, get a GT3 and don't jack with it too much. The RMS issues and overall 'sensitivity' of the car are major turn offs for me, but then again I only currently own a bunch of japanese products. As much as I really do like 996's, it would be hard to pass on a clean 993 for what I'd use them for. If I want ridiculous performance and low streetability (and or attention) I can go ride a sport bike. Obviously that's not for everyone.

GT2 is a big step up and the only logical move... however you have one more option.... Modena. So my choices stock NSX or....

1. Modena
2. GT2

I agree its not the cleanest of cars... but the 996TT is a badass car, and with the GT700 kit and the Hitachi MAF fix, that would annihilate damn near anything on the road. I gotta say though, it does appear to me to be overpriced. You can pick up 996TT's with between 30-40k miles for between 50 and 60k nowdays. Why not just do that and do it all up yourself just how you want it? Also... I think you might find the GT700 to be a bit of overkill. I spend 96% of my time over at 6speed and from what i've read 90% of people are just fine with a Stage4 EVOMS kit or any of the kits out there that push around 600hp. You don't have the fuel issues, maf issues, or clutch issues of pushing the extra 100hp and you get 98.9% of the "WOW" factor of having massive acceleration. Vividracing just put out their 650hp kit for 10k!

My take, and i'm just spitballing here is...
- Buy used 996tt: 55k
- Buy 650HP Kit: 10k
- GT3 Seats/Cage: 4k
- KW Varient 3 Coilovers: 3k
- Insert Brand Name Here Wheels/Tires: 6k

78K And you've got the same car, except this one is EXACTLY how you want it, and you've still got another 20k sitting around to buy that lovefab kit.

BEST OF BOTH WORLDS!

Also, the RMS seal issue was only on the 996 C2's and C2S's, the Turbo's never had that problem. Entirely different drivetrain with the AWD system.

Chris,

I would keep the NSX and I would add a Gallardo to the garage in a year or two. That is my plan for now since I can't replace my NSX with a Gallardo.

This is good advice. A friend of mine recently purchased a low mileage (around 18k) '02 996tt with GT3 seats and a few other goodies for around $60k with tax and title. A rare find, but they're out there. That's probably the most performance you can buy in that price range. At about $100k for the car you listed, I'd buy something else.

After a lot of debate I am keeping the NSX and will figure out what to add on later. I really like the Modena's but, maintenance is killer. I know Brandonson will help me spend all of this money that is burning a hole in my pocket!! I do agree with you da3dalus and pvmike about doing it myself and spending less since I have a pretty good idea of what I want on the car. Thank you to all of you for the advice.
