Anyone with Corvette C5 experience?

I hac a 2000 C5 Convertible, car was fine, no rattles, no big noise, I actually enjoyed the car, not as much as the NSX!!!

How are they? How's the road noise inside them? Comments?

The C6 is far better in terms of road noice inside. The C5 is not too bad though. The TQ is fun. :)

Yeah. I understand that C6s are way better than C5s, but look at how much you can have C5s for nowadays! Their prices have dropped quite a bit!

Thanks for the feedback RPM. I was reading some posts regarding road noise, but I'm guessing that was mainly due to the run-flats?

Spinner, as I understand it, there is quite a bit of road noise from the coupes (FRCs, and Z06s). My friend has a fixed roof coupe, and he was able to cut out almost all road noise by putting in a partition in between the front and back. The aftermarket supplies these and they only cost a $100 or so.

I have a CTS-V (just got it last week) which has the Z06 engine. Man, that thing freakin' flies. Fastest car I've ever driven. I love my NSX though and the NSX is more fun to drive, but I love just about everything about the CTS-V, looks (both interior and exterior), the crazy power (monster torque!), great handling, great toys inside, etc. Road noise in the V is reasonable. It has run flats (for now). Don't know what kind the Vette uses, but the V has Goodyear Eagle Supercar F1's (245/45ZR18).

Next set of tires won't be run flats and that'll quiet down the road noise a little. The exhaust will still be growling though! The interior of the Vette, even the C5, isn't as bad as folks make it out to be. Much better than anything from FoMoCo in my opinion (except the navigator-that's pretty shwanky inside).

Hmmmm...yeah, I remember reading a couple threads, where owners would stuff noise foam between the fender liners of the rear wheel well. I wonder if the targa coupes have similar problems. Thanks Edwardo

I now have 20k miles on my C5 - bought new. I've taken it on extended road trips to California, Texas and New Orleans(pre-hurricane). Most of the noise at cruising speeds is due to the run-flat tires, I believe. But even so, I don't find the noise level objectionable. By the way, the car is still rattle and squeak free and I have not had a single problem with it so far.

The NSX and the Vette are different driving experiences. Each has its good points.

The run flats are part of it, and in the convertible, there's the fact that there's nothing to keep the noise out in back, it's all open  (with the top up there's nothing like a trunk wall to help keep the noise out!)

sweet. Thanks for all the replies guys. I'm guessing the C5 is alot louder than an NSX when cruising on the freeway?

Not really, when cruising in 6th gear at 70MPH the revs are a lot lower than in a NSX, it's a really tall overdrive, to the best of recollection, it was doing about 2200RPM's and I was getting about 29 MPG's. Not bad for a torque monster!!!!

My dads is more quiet as far as crusing. You don't really hear the motor much. It does drone a little when you step on the gas at low RPM highway cruising. My NSX is much louder than my dad's vette.

Really?! What year is your Dad's Vette? Coupe, FRC, Convertible? Does your NSX have an exhaust system? Thanks again!

I drove the C5 at Bondurant extensively on the track. I can tell you that it is a totally different experience from the NSX.

The handling is not as edgy, the response is not as crisp. But it will get the job done. You may not smile as much as you would in an NSX, as the NSX rewards you with great feedback and control like no other car that I've driven.
