I saw a virtually brand new pearl white Dodge Stealth RT going to dinner last night. This is one of the very few cars that is like the NSX - its design doesn't age with the years.

I consider the car visually, one of the most beautiful designs externally I've seen. It was a dream car of mine when I was in college. The car I saw last night looked like it was just driven off the show room floor. Wow I caught myself drooling again over the Stealth.

Thank goodness I have my NSX to help offset the pain that I never got a Stealth RT (esp the twin turbo).

I never owned one, but had many friends that did. They (along with the 3000GT which is cooler, and is what a stealth really is) are HEAVY, plow and feel quicker than they really are (due to good torque, but the heavy weight negates that in the #'s) They are reliable until you add the bolt-ons. The world record holder in the 1/4 mile with a street legal 3000GT/Stealth R/T is a friend of mine, and lives in Milwaukee! He was one of the first DSM's to bust into the 10's (including talon/laser/eclipse) He did this back in 1995!!!! It was a daily driver 3000GT, that he did all of the wrenching on! He has since retired that car (still has it) and now has his second twin (same color 3000GT) plate reads XWING2 his drag GT read XWING1. His new car is set up for road racing. He runs it at Road America. It has so many bolt-ons, that I swear he is in the pits more laps than on the track tuning/fixing etc!

If you do decide to get one, throw on some intercoolers, exhaust, and some blow-off valves and STOP there! You will enjoy it.

I had one back in the mid 90's. It was a Hennessey built RT/S (basically an RT/TT with badging, intercooler upgrade, injectors, 13g turbos, suspension, etc.) I was constantly going for more with that car. Always bigger turbos, injectors, better fuel management (which in the day was very challenging). The car was pretty quick (I ran an 11.42 one time). The transmissions and transfer cases are a bit of a weak point when pushing the 550 hp mark. The AWD system was good. I has M&S tires for winter.

I think overall it was a good old car. Probably best put as more of a GT car than a sports car.

There is a pretty active group (3si.org) where you can get lots of info on them.

Best of luck,

Ben

My uncle in-law has a 3000GT TT and it has had so many mods I cant even count them all but it has been dyno tested at 680hp however everytime I have been to visit him the car is in pieces in his garage, His wife says he has over 45k invested in the car! she calls it the "money pit" I don't care for the car, but thats cuz I have had the displeasure of replacing the rear turbo on many..lots of people seem to like them a lot though
