I'm planning on doing some work on my vw jetta, just the rear brakes. I found out you need to put the bearings (inner and outer) into the rotor before installing and that a shop press would be required to do this. I'm curious how many other shade tree mechanics have their own press to do these sorts of things and if you could make a recommendation as to what rating (tons) one should have to do most jobs. I was looking at habor freight and they aren't that expensive ($70.00 for a 6 ton) so I was considering buying one myself and then I will have one for whatever other jobs come up that I'm willing to tackle myself in the future.
