Anyone have pics after installing Tein S.Tech or Eibach?

Thinking of using the Teins or Eibachs to lower the stance just a little bit. I'm a little concerned, with the Teins, the front would be lowered 7/10 of an inch and the back 1.0 inch. I know it's a small difference, but I'd like to see the results b4 I throw them on mine. The Eibachs are 1.2 inches all around. My suspension is stock otherwise, so only post if yours was stock before the springs.

Also, is the ride really that much different from a comfort standpoint? I'd really appreciate any help you could give.

Regards,

Joe

Go with the Eibachs. They are a little more but I think it looks better. I have Teins on my car and I notice that the front is up a little. No one else does but me. I does make it nice for curbs thought. I'm thinking about buying Eibachs so if you want my Teins I'll make you a great deal on them. Also I would recommend new shocks when you do the springs. The lower springs will kill your stock shocks.

I consider myself overly critical of my car (as most members are  ). So you saying that tells me the Teins are a no-go. I'm not very experienced with the suspension, so.......how do you notice the shocks are suffering? The ride? Are they making a noise? Thanks again for the advice.

Joe

What you will notice is that the car will not have enough rebound dampning. Rebound is the force that pushs that suspension back up after being compressed. Image a pogo stick. Its not that bad but it does hurt the performance. The stock shocks do not have enought dampning to slow the force of the Tien spring when they decompress. I bought my NSX from a freind that had put the springs on. He could not tell the suspension was not working correctly. I have been a Motorcycle road racers for a few years and on my third NSX and could feel right away that the cars suspension is not balanced. I still have not ordered new springs yet though. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the input. Thinking I may go with the Eibachs for now. We'll see what happens later with the shocks.

Spend your money on a set of Bilstein Gas struts. It will be the most cost effective for you. The Bilsteins have a lower perch which allows you to lower the car 7/8". Not only that, you've just replaced your factory (and probably wornout, which need to be replaced anyway) struts with a brand new set of lifetime warranted ones.

Ride quality doesn't suffer because you're using the OEM original springs. Bound and rebound improve because the strut is effectively "new" and not worn out, plus Bilstein uses a different technology than the OEM strut.

Funny- I have my car in for new clutch (Spec stage 1), and was going to go for lowered springs as well, was going to ask about TEIN and Eibach, glad you posted !!

FYI, my guy recommends Eibach on general principles, so I was going to go with them anyways, but good to get the confirmation.

What about the Tein folks out there? I know there's a few that have em that like them. I'd like to hear some more opinions.

I ran S-techs on my Z and loved them...very subtle drop, about 1". Although I don't recall the rear being lower than the front like on the NSX, that seems odd to me.

Don't get me wrong I like the look of the Tein and for the price they are hard to beat, I just like the look of the eibach better. My friend who I bought the car from only paid like 170 for the springs. Thats almost half of the eibach. At first the front was higher and was you coule tell now that the car springs have settled it take a good eye to tell. I'll try and get some pictures.

i'll chime in for the S Tech springs. I installed them myself for a total investment of under $170. It was exactly what I was looking for - not the 'slammed' look but a nice, subtle drop without too much concern for rubbing, curbs, etc. Mine came out with the front lower than the rear and looks just right to me. Mind you, I did it for cosmetics only. I have some before/after pix in my gallery if interested.

I second that quote. My oem shock lasted about 30K miles before it start to deteriorate the ride with Eibachs on. Went to order Bilstein but cheated by the distributer here so I have to order the oem shocks again from the Honda dealer. I haven't try Tein springs but the coilovers a too rough for me but it does performs nicely.

If you want the suttle drop, just get the Bilstein struts, and use the lower perch. You'll save yourself $200 because you won't have to buy lowering springs.

Even if you do end up getting lowering springs, you will kill your OEM struts and will have to get new ones eventually anyway. Save yourself both the time and the money, get the Bilsteins now instead.

I am having Eibach springs put on this weekend. Is there anything my mechanic needs to know that may be unusual/tricky?

He thought that the rear air intake thingamagig (behind the hatch..black doodad) might need to be removed.

nothing tricky..... but that think does need to be removed to get access to the nuts to the top of the shock tower..... its a matter of 8 to 10 phillip screws...that all... only tricky thing is not to lose any of those screws..

I have to tell ya, I have never been one to give more than a popcorn fart about the color white on cars. But, I must say, that your car is probably one of the best looking NSX's I have ever seen. Nicely nicely done.

Thanks for the kind words.

I would very much like to get Bilstein for the price and its longevity but the only distributer for Bilstein in my country is the one who cheated me for 4 months. Even if I wanted to the get from other shop the order would still go through him. I'm on OEM springs right now and new OEM shocks. For Bruneian owners don't go ordering from Krishley (now is a sticker shop). He will try to delay your order giving many excuses and he does not even have the liscense to sell car parts right now (he sold the rights to Etozza).
